in ny, it gets no better than viet banh mi so on broome and mott. they have held me down for over 15 years. they got this jasmine rice with hominy and crispy shallots for $1.25 that is completely off the meat rack. sugar cane juice and jackfruit cream popsicles are also damn serious. and those vegetable peanuts with the crunchy shit outside. coconut rice porridge with banana.... fuck nicky's on 2nd st, shit is like the dumpling man : dumpling house conundrum. move it up 10 blocks, cut the quality in half and double the price.

oh god, I could go for one of those today. Too bad it's not really walking distance from my work. Any SF strutters know of anything good in the far eastern reaches of central San Francisco (I'm at the UCSF campus in Mission Bay, on 16th at 3rd).

anyways, doesnt the 15 roll through there? a friend of mine is a grad student at UCSF and he's out there somewhere's too. said the school provides a shuttle or something.
they just opened a lee's in santa cruz. shit is pretty good for $2.50. but southeast asian sandwitches...those things are for real. pickled carrots/onions & cucumbers & red chili sause & avocado and shit. there is a dougnut place in arcata that has them and they're open 24 HOURS.
Yeah, I guess I shouldn't complain too much, there's a shuttle that runs every 20 minutes that takes 2 minutes to reach the corner of 16th and Mission. I hear there's some decent food up there.

They got $2 fried tofu bahn mi at the Saigon Deli across the street from my work. The spicy carrots and cilantro does the trick, but lately they've switched to some kinda fish based mayo sauce, which is not the move, at least as far as my duodenum is concerned.
They have a pate listing as well. The French did colonize Vietnam. Thats the only connection I can think of.
