Slim Willis Band - I Sayed That

Any info on this 45 Slim Willis Band - I Sayed That on Reginald. It says it was out of Mississippi but i was checking out that Funk 45 book that came out of Japan and the book says it's a Chicago 45. Any other info on Slim Willis?

    It is definitely out of Mississippi, but there appears to have been a deal with VH&L Circle Distribution in Chicago where a few Reginald & related 45s were released through them with the Illinois distributor's address only on the label which is where the confusion may have come from.

    Reginald was indeed a MS label, but Slim Willis was Chicago to the hilt. I just wrote a pretty major piece about the interconnectedness of all this shit for a forthcoming project.

    From the cursory internet exploring I've done over the last little bit it seems like a messy spiderweb of artists, label names & distribution agreements. I'll have to keep an eye out for your write up on it all.

    I love how some copies read "Say" and some read "Sayed." It's kinda funny to think that at some point in the course of producing and distributing this 45--total raw-dog blues shit that sounds like it was recorded inside a fat man's jacket--someone somewhere was enough of a stickler to say, "Hey, call the plant--we need to fix the grammar on these."

    The box I had were all turquoise label "I Say That" copies. Great cheap 45.
