i remember this topic coming up a loooooong time ago and the consensus was to have it in the 'burbs'.. starved rock or what have you.seeing how the weather has chilled out, anyone still down? i'll handle the organization as long as you dudes bring females. i can only wrangle up so many. sexy b should bring his harem for real. mod chicks eating hot dogs is what's up.

Sunday Sept 4th (camp out) & Monday Sept 5th (cook out)
i'll be reserving 3 campsites for sunday, that should cover 12 folks. if need be, we can reserve more.
picnic shelters are first come, first serve. this shouldn't be a problem, even during labor day weekend, since we'll already be in the park monday AM.
as for food: we can do a potluck thing OR everyone who plans on attending can chip in 10$ and i'll handle the shopping.

No, there are no records in Ottowa, IL. But it's actually not
a bad little town to hang out in.
In addition to the Rock, I can't recommend highly enough:
Matthieson State Park, only a 10 minute drive from Starved Rock,
it's on the map.
It is small, and only for hiking, not camping, but if you, like me,
sometimes suddenly need to feel like you're in North Carolina, but
can't get to N.C., then you can go down into the gorge at Matthieson
and check waterfalls, rock formations and all that.
You won't believe you're in IL...it's about as different from
cornfields as you can get.
Anyway, get your rocks off with your socks off.
Also, try not to get your asses busted.
By the cops or park rangers, I mean.
For wheed and ackahol, I mean.
These are fambly-orientated spots.
If you get throwed out the park, I recommend the Sands motel
in Ottowa.

not legal in campsites or hiking trails. so bring your inside voices to the fire.
my only concern is that it's labor day weekend instead of a regular weekend in august or something. i feel like there might be more people camping on labor day which in turn has the potential to dampen certain activities (herzo smoke, circle jerks...etc...). also might there be more 5-0 out on a holiday weekend?

Sorry. I'll be holding it down in sub-Columbus, on some water-water-everywhere-and-not-a-drop-to-drink, so I'm afraid I'll have to pass on the sausage...uh, I mean, I'll have to pass on the "mod chicks eating hot dogs." Last time I went camping, though, I ended up getting so slizzard that I had to put one hand over my eye just to hear, so perhaps it's best that I keep absent.
But, yeah, enjoy yourselves. Sounds like fun.

I was just at Starved Rock a couple weeks ago. Stay away from those stairs after a few beers! I was thinking about hitting up their Oktober Fest this year.
