http://maps.google.comThis is insane! I'm looking at our summer cottage, which is 300 kilometers away from Helsinki. Looks like the island is still there.

    The technology is amazing. I work in an office that frequently uses satellite photographs and Google Earth is sure to save us a good bit of cash in the long run. However, the problem with the program now is that imaging is a bit outdated. For most major US cities, images are at least 3 years old. For small cities and rural areas, imaging is obsolete and often non-existent.

    Have you checked out the 3D buildings option yet? It's not available in a lot of areas, but if you check out the downtown of most major US cities, you can view the scale of buildings in 3D. If Google gets to near perfection of what the program already offers, it could be a premier geographic information program.

    i was bored so i plotted all the record shops i know of in NYC (well the good ones) and saved them in an earth file.. helps for planning
