I saw the thread about job losses (there have been others) and thought it might be a good idea for people to post what they do and where they are located, and if you are currently employed or looking for work. In addition, it might be helpful to post the type of services you could use.I'll start:Work: Currently employed as a lawyer handling all types of civil litigation, some criminal and family law experience, also do some transactional work (mostly contract drafting/negotiating).Geographic Area: All of PA & NJHolla at Me: if you have a case, need some advice (free), are a law student looking for a summer job, are employed in an area where you might be of use to us in a trial as an expert (local accountant, engineer, computer specialist, etc.)

That said, if young duns want internships we can talk. Or if you're like my cousin and just came home and need something to put on your resume, I can pay out a hero for lunch and trainfare in exchange for some basic filing and paperwork.
Holler if you need someone to clean up your writing. And trust me???you need it.
I handle publishing disputes and rate calculations for the Zomba portion of the label.
We are currently laying people off and I hope I am not one of them. I want to find another more secure job.
Holler at me if you have early to mid 90's hip hop indie 12"s to sell to me!

Holla at me: If you need help with your Java, .NET, Python, or Oracle I might be able to help. If you need help with general software development inquires I might also be able to help.
I had to stifle my disbelief... I guess there's never any harm in asking, but why would you think anyone was hiring right now?
don't be mad. UPS is hiring......
seasonal drivers!
I work in a demographics research center at a Big 10 university. I volunteer at a local non-profit helping refugees transition into our community. I can't really offer much, as we have a hiring freeze at the University, and the non-profit has one paid employee, and many unpaid volunteers.
But, I'm writing this to respond to Paychecks comment. I am also in a Masters Program, and one of my courses this semester doubles as a capstone course for undergrads. These seniors have no idea. Last week, one of them was talkin' 'bout "holding out for more money" on the only job offer he had. The comment: "I'm worth more than they are offering" was bad, but what was worse was the uniform agreement from his peers.
hahahhahaahaa I finished my BA about 4 years ago and moved to Virginia where employment rates were pretty decent. I had a good resume and a lot of job experience and it still took me 4 months to find a job, and they paid me less than I made working at my high school job. I took that shit though.
That said, I work for a company that provides law firm marketing and support services. If any of the strut legal dream team partners are interested in more info let me know.
AND I'M STILL A GODDAMN TEMP
fuckers.
geographical area: Albuquerque, NM
we're not hiring, this company can kiss my ass. It's a job though so I can't really complain TOO much. I'm about to push for a raise though. we'll see how that goes.
man i have been considered a temp for over a year. it is just a move to get them to pay you less and do away with benefits.
that is how i dodged the layoffs because they can afford to keep me.
but what happens when they double my workload and i demand some sort of health insurance and/or pay raise!
uh-oh
yeah, F*ck em...I'm slowly making myself completely indispensable. I started here moving boxes and now I'm in charge of 3 properties and they just added my name to the insurance for both of the company vehicles. I edit ALL the maps for our presentations for potential land buyers and shit like that. It's silly that I'm still a temp. But yeah I dodged layoffs like that too. As soon as the housing market goes back up I'll be a dude that can get some fools hired though.
im pretty much walking away from a university job where i was stationed for 5 years. full benefits, tuition benefits, fairly relaxed work atmosphere, modest salary. but i didnt get a raise in 5 years (not counting the yearly 2%, and despite being promised one two years ago and despite most other coworkers getting raises) and feel like i accomplished what i could there and had little room for advancement.
so, ive been on leave for the last 3 months...focusing on school and house rehabs.and am about to walk away from that job for good. but listening to npr and hearing about the world coming to an end makes me think i may be making a mistake.
Shit is slow, and I'd love to find myself a new main gig...but, i like what I do in the meantime.
I did send a couple people's resumes around last week for gigs I heard about, so there is SOME hope.
I'm a graphic designer w/5+ years experience. I wouldn't mind a move if anyone knows where I should look.
Damn, Dude. I am sorry to hear that.
