Okay, so I'm doing like 5 things at once, and getting emails every 5 minutes or so....so my question is, when you're on the go and you have a Blackberry or what have you (I don't yet), do you feel "on call" at all times? How do you manage? Share some perspective on the high tech steelo yo.

Well those devices(Blackberry's or iPhones) have internets so I consider it just being way more connected. I don't really find any different than having a cell phone. You can turn the device off at anytime if you don't want to be bothered.

I'm not on call for my job. If there's an email that I can answer with a sentence or two and does not require any additional work on my part, I will give a reply. Otherwise, shit can wait until whenever.

I don't go on the interwebs with my BlackBerry, and if I don't feel like responding to a text right away or answering a call, then I won't. It's been a pretty good system thus far.

I am in theory on call whenever, so thus my work both provides and pays for my BB.

I undoubtedly give it more attention then I would a non-work related device, but fortunately I rarely get a message that demands instantaneous response at odd hours of the night.

I do use the browser to check game scores, holler at dj google and twitter about how awesome my salad is.

But the best aspect for me is no surprises when I get to work. To each his own, but I would rather wake up at 7am and know from the start that my day is going to suck than instead have a great breakfast and trip into work only to get all my hopes and dreams of a peaceful day crushed when I open my outlook.

eventually I'd love to get an iphone, but as work currently foots my bill, I am content with the half-ass black berry browser that is on my curve.

  • Unless you owe me money, I'm probably not calling back.

Yeah, this is what I do. I'd rather spend 15 minutes of my commute time checking up on stuff than an hour of confusion at work.

Having email and wi-fi access on the go has been great with my Touch. Use the device at your own discretion and you'll be good. It will come in handy one way or another pretty often.

  • I have an iPhone that I find handy for work. You can't work too quickly with it, so I'm not too bothered by the stress of too much to reply to.

It does tend to get whipped out at inappropriate times however. AHEM

I just delete everything that's arrived overnight and if it's important they'll call me or better, manifest deyself at my desk.

I am not interested in work from the minute I leave the place 'pon the evening until I turn up there the next morning. In fact, it doesn't get much better when I am actually at work.

I understand this attitude will not propel me to the lofty heights of senior management but I sleep like a drunken log.
