Solar Powered DJ Set

The idea stems from today's bummer gig....by the way my first no-play.b, 21b, 21It goes like this. This people didn't handle their $hit with diligence and I moved the set out of the one crummy spot, in the sun, with NO power outlet to a cooler spot outside of a restaurant fence. Then the manager of the restaurant killed the power to outlets INSIDE his fence. This people had just assumed he could plug in and set up anywhere but nnnooooo.b, 21b, 21b, 21Anyway I am thinking about a stage set-up that has cheap, non-polluting, efficient solar cells that could panel overhead and cool the DJs. Powering the whole sound system as well.b, 21b, 21That would be so cool. There are event managament companies in Australia who are already doing this.b, 21b, 21They tend to run the psy-trance, bush hippie rave type gigs though.

they just did this in california and my friend matt works for the company that set all the solar stuff up. It was called firefly or something like that.

b, 21b, 21There are very very few solar installations that power devices directly, this is mainly due to fluctuations in the current and the fact that most appliances (and all dj gear) is AC not DC, most systems power up car batteries or li-ion batteries and then run an inverter which creates clean AC power.b, 21b, 21If anyone has any specific questions i might be able to help.

A mate of mine has been running a solar powered stage at festivals and the like for a good few years, in the UK.b, 21b, 21http://smallworldsolarstage.org//a1b, 21b, 21I dunno how he stores energy, but he sets up an hour or two before the event kicks off.
