I have when they had good reggie records. I don't know how many of those Light of Saba records I sold.

Their Swann/Hightower/Staton series was good, even if only the Candi Staton issue was end-to-end burners.b,121b,121The Light Of Saba LP is just *meh* to me. I'd probably trade it after a quick re-listen.

Did they do any more soul reissues after Swann/Hightower/Staton? For a MINUTE there, they were getting as much props as Numero in that field...

font class="post"1b,121b,121All three comps featured artists that had material released by Capitol, if not Fame; That was the unifying principle. I'm not sure if Capitol owns the rights to all the material. But to my knowledge, only those three soul comps exist to date.

font class="post"1b,121Yes, it was a nice sentiment, but ultimately a snoozefest.

It's impossible to hate on Soul singers making it in the Oughts, but this is only worth a pat on the head at best. Not on par with the best tracks from the most recent Bettye LaVette offering.

Maybe I just need to re-listen, and I don't own it to do that.b,121b,121Either way, she's better in concert.

But since I consider Candi Staton's work with Fame to be among the most incredible soul music ever produced, perhaps I'm biased. img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /1
