Although I think the major issue isn't ncessarily just the single LP pressing but also the fact that the Beatminerz weren't great with mixdown or eq'ing their shit. The bass on that LP is off the meters. "Buck em down" is straight up unplayable on most systems unless you play the 12 version and even then it's too much unless you give it like a 3db low end cut or even more imo.
Raw Power by Iggy & the Stooges.b,121b,121My vinyl has been in mothballs since I bought the CD remix, ten years ago. The original sounded like homemade SHIT and don't let any weekend punk tell you different!
Add 3 Feet High and Rising to the 2-LP-reissue-is-superior list.b,121b,121My OG might as well be a baseball card for all the good it can do me - you needb,121volume knobs that go to "12" to be able to play that record. The repop gets the play.

b,121b,121Agreed.b,121b,121See also: Alvin Cash and the Crawlers' LP reissue on CD.
Quote:/font1h,121b,121you guys spend money on reissues? MP3s anyone? b,121b,121h,121
b,121b,121Hating on reissues is so elitist and is just a pose.b,121Many folks on here are involved somewhere in the process of re-issues and comps; it gives them income, extends their interest, gets them involved. They provide a worthwhile product for consumers, and importantly usually some cash for the og artist, which is more than any amount of incestuous dealing in ogs does.b,121b,121I'd rather have the Mulatu re-ish than the floppy and rinked original.b,121b,121Some guys sound like antique dealers on here.
b,121b,121That's what I've heard. The second CD transfer (with the bonus tracks) is both from the master tapes and 100% legit. Great stuff. The extra song and bonus materials are worth hearing.

b,121b,121This record sounds AWFUL, but hands-down I give it to this:b,121b,121 b,121b,121The two sides dont even sound like they were mastered at the same place.
the reissue of modern pop percussion kills the original.b,121b,121it was remastered off the original master tapes. if you ever hear the 200 quid original pressing, it's definitely sonically inferior in every way
Wasn???t there a Doctor Octogon 3LP re-issue a couple years ago that was pretty nice? b,121b,121Shoot, these days DJ???s that are still playing records instead of going digital whether it???s re-issue or not get a bit more respek???b,121b,121

The truly hilarious thing is that these dudes who get the most hot and bothered over this THEE ORIGINAL vs. "reissue" shit are always focused on some retarded sub $100 thing like OMG IS MY HONKY TONK POPCORN AN OG? I DIDN'T SLEEP LAST NIGHT FOR WORRY.
Sometimes you need a re-ish just to know what all the fuss is about. Case in point... is any Jazz Funk album worth this much?b,121b,121Ricardo Marrero....WTF?b,121b,121b,121For one thing I'm pretty sure the dope song Babalonia can be scooped on 45 for alot less...like 50$.

b,121yes but it's all about Algo rather than Babalonia

b,121b,121It's worth every penny. Puzzled why there was no latin keywording in the title.
As I said, I'd luv someone to do a re-ish to know what the fuss is about...b,121 Same with the Soulful Proclomation LP... I don't want to spent 40$ on a fruckin P-Vine CD.
I was anti-CD for many, many years... then I started copping various titles, mainly for the car. It was then that I noticed that a lot of the 're-issues' on CD had bonus tracks not available elsewhere on vinyl.b,121Case in point, James Brown's Hot Pants CD which has the full unedited version of Escape-ism. So for this reason alone, I now always check track listings on CDs.b,121As for vinyl, you can't be mad at a 2-LP remastered, extra tracks issue of a great album. I say own both.b,121Pickwick said it best... it's all about the music.
Quote:/font1h,121b,121i've met, hung with and worked with some famous producers, artisits and musicians who could give a fuckk about the og vs reish debateb,121and for me that always solidified my stance as REAL b,121b,121h,121
b,121b,121that really depends, so what some care, some don't: b,121for one well known producer I sold a record where I had the reissue and og, put them on both tables, synced em up, went back and forth with the crossfader for him, and the o.g. had a "warmer" sound, really, it was so subtle, you'd have to have a trained ear to notice, so he spent the $100 instead of the $15.b,121b,121also, even if you don't have any good programs/hardware with equalizers and compressors, anyone with even a basic macbook can simply rip the o.g. into garageband, use the "visual eq", experiment with the compressors, and peak limiter and get that shit sounding tight themselves, if you want to play it out.b,121b,121that being said, the kool g rap and dj polo dead or alive lp is TERRIBLE in terms of mastering, went to play it once, never played it since
