It is the place where i used to live.b,121b,121Can't knock it cause I do miss parts of it; but residing in San Francisco now, I would take a whole lot for me to move back to San Diego, too conservative for my tastes - and the hatred of immigrants there is disgusting; especially the further North you go (where I used to live). That area is becoming Orange County South, awful.b,121b,121Plus, there seems to be a significant lack of records there. In the few years I was looking for records I found two decent record stores. One doesn't really sell used vinyl anymore and the other is hit or miss. I may have not been turned on to the right places but I didn't have any friends that were on my level when it came to digging.b,121b,121The big props I give is to the mexican food there. Pokez is the shit, my favorite. Can't find that in SF, close but not the same.b,121b,121But hey, it's my hometown so it ain't bad.

About 15 years ago I took a digging trip to S.D..........went to a record store that was on a busy street and was housed in an old house......eccentric older guy ran the place.b,121b,121When we were done my partner realized he had locked the keys in our rental car...we stood out on the street waiting for the rental car folks to show up and the grocery store across the street was robbed......dude with a gun and cops chasing him ran right past us....unfortunately that is my most vivid memory of San Diego.....scored some good records though.

b,121b,121Folk Art Rare Records, right across the street from Vons on Adams avenue. I used to live 2 blocks from there.b,121b,121That old dude is full of himself. crusty old prick. It has now moved to a new location, still on Adams. I haven't been in there in a loooong time. I don't really know if anybody does. I don't think he ever really gets new stock.

Saying you can't find good vegetarian mexican food that isn't Becky'd up is ridiculous. It's like saying you can't find any Obama supporters out this way.b,121b,121Plus the one time I went the service was weeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaak and most importantly the food was shit.

"a black man's soul" for 3 bucks, the Who Sell out for 4, tons of JB for 5-10, "fear of a black planet" for 50 cents... plus he was a hardcore 78 collector and it was cool to pick his brain about Dock Boggs and whatnot... i remember there was once an article in some SD rag with Lou Curtiss talking about knowing R.Crumb thru the westcoast 78 collectors nerd circuit...
