font class="post"1b,121b,121That forum is for producers, sharing mixes, no?b,121b,121As for the "record day has become a mp3 swapfest" argument, there's only so much that language can do to describe how a bassline/horn section/beat sounds. Mp3's are a convenient way of transferring musical knowledge and starting a discussion.

font class="post"1b,121b,121It's just nice when there is a day when everyone's posts are dedicated to records. Sorry if I offended you.
I'm not offended, it's just that people always start theseb,121threads going "when is record day??" because they are frustratedb,121with the current run of topics - and I say, the time you took to b,121start that thread, you could have started one ABOUT A RECORD.

font class="post"1b,121b,121No, that's not the forum I mean. There is a forum for sharing MP3'sb,121but it is only open to long-time members and those who participated inb,121a fundraiser a while back. b,121b,121As for the "language to describe (sounds)" comment, that's great, it's true,b,121but that has nothing to do with the fact that when you say there is going to beb,121a "record day" all dudes say anymore is "WORD I NEED TO CLEAR HARD DRIVE SPACE"b,121and "YO I NEED TO START RIPPING" and for someone who remembers the first coupleb,121of record days, when there were threads DISCUSSING records, compared to the lastb,121couple where all that was going on was people having a filsharing party like it b,121was 1999, it can be deflating to say the least.
font class="post"1b,121b,121One man's opinion.b,121b,121Hey, you post up tons of MP3's on record day, and I have a bunchb,121of them on my hard drive, and it's appreciated. I still prefer tob,121talk about records than just share a bunch of MP3's. That's anotherb,121man's opinion.

font class="post"1b,121b,121I'm with SoulOnIce all the way on this. The idea of a special "record day" is a cop-out for a music/record forum.b,121b,121And IMO a discussion is way more interesting than an mp3-fest. Of course it's cool to post an mp3 to clarify a point/honour a request or to occasionally post all of a raer album, but I can't really get excited over a zillion mp3s zomg overload. Like the man said, there is another forum dedicated to that.b,121b,121Why can't every day be record day? The moderating policy on this board is ??ber-liberal, which is cool by me, but it means that there's always a ton of redundant NRR threads clogging shit up, drowning out the music threads. The only way to combat this is to get out of the favorite Obama MILF tit candy bar threads and start replying to the RR threads, or start up some new ones. Bump the crud off page one.b,121b,121Let's go, right now. Who's with me?

font class="post"1b,121b,121This is exactly what I was thinking. I am happy for all the DL's of various records, but that has its' own spotlight. Record Day was originally different than that. I know I'm saying the same thing that the others did, but i1goddamn[/i], I don't remember Record Day being THAT lazy.

font class="post"1b,121Very few are with you, hence the current lack of in depth music discussion on the board. You are in a very small minority. We, the very large majority, don't want music discussion; we want MP3s, large pictures, a succinct identification of genre/sub-genre, and ratings.
I'm into both. I really enjoy discussing the music, especially in the company of so many educated and knowledgeable people. It's great to get to find out the back story of albums, and be able to piece great works together through engineers, studios, session musicians, et cetera. This is the kind of talk that really makes something stick with me, and has me seeking it out in the field.b,121b,121At the same time, I enjoy getting to hear the stuff that's discussed, for virtue of being exposed to previously unheard sounds.b,121b,121I'm not advocating an insane mp3 swap, just saying that its nice to have a day when the forum is dedicated solely to music regardless of whether the threads revolve around discussion or downloads.
