NBA Live '09 v. NBA2K9 (PS3)

Anyone feel strongly one way or the other? I'd just as soon pick up the EA Sports title like always, but I have heard some good stuff about 2K Sports. What's the consensus? Which is better?

    I'd like some opinions as well. I'm in the market for a PS3 and the first title I will buy is definitely gonne be a bball game.

    Picked up NBA Live over the weekend and it is pretty dope. The last edition I had of this game was maybe '06 for the Gamecube and, suffice to say, it is vastly improved -- the players actually seem like they are real basketball players, working the pick and rolls, spreading the floor, even driving to the hoop seems somewhat realistic. b,121b,121The Live 365 feature seems pretty dope as well -- the game updates via the internet to account for real-life tendencies, trends, roster moves, with the players having a better chance to hit a shot in the places they hit them in NBA games. b,121b,121Never ended up trying 2K9 but NBA Live seems great so far. Of course on the PS3 the graphics are almost life-like.

    font class="post"1b,121b,121I got the latest basic version: 80 gigs for $399 (plus an extra $100 credit if you buy it with a deal on Sonystyle.com with a Sony Chase credit card). Only bad thing is that it isn't backward compatible with PS2 games, but I never had PS2 anyway. b,121b,121/font1

I upgraded my Netflix account for an extra $1 per month and can rent Blu Ray DVDs to my heart's content -- don't know if I'd buy any though (about $30 each).b,121b,121The games are Blu Ray as well -- with a noticeable HD quality.

    font class="post"1b,121b,121I have an x-box 360 and based on online research I got the NBA 2k9. The controls are a bitch to learn at first. But once you get the basic hang of it, it's ridiculous. I had not played a b-ball game for ten years and everything is much much better. The ratings of the players are precise, and the style in which they play is true to life. Lebron does that tomahawk jam, Kevin Durant is slippery and quick on the baseline, Shaq does his patented spin shake move. My big issue with 2k9 is that there are so many specific moves you can do, it's hard to get the hang of at first. It too has a living roster feature.

    I think if you buy the slightly more expensive version, you can play the PS2 games. A shady move on Sony's part nonetheless.

    Right now, the only backwards compatible version on the market is the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle, which is in short supply, and the BC is limited at that. All the others you can currently buy new have no BC whatsoever. If you want the best compatibility, you need to find a used 20GB or 60GB model.
