font class="post"1b,121b,12110 copies of White Van Music for me today. I'm biased as f-uck, but for real, if you ACTUALLY like rap music, you need to cop this, the boy Wizzles put in much work and it shows in the final product.
font class="post"1b,121b,121It's the Great Beat Writer mix cd, basically a mixtape of Jakes production. There is a d/l link in the other Jake thread.b,121b,121Got the Jake CD in the mail last night and plan to pick up another copy at the local rap store. Heard they were hurting, need to keep them open.
font class="post"1b,121b,121Got the CD when it first came out. Great reissue with a generous amount of non-LP bonus tracks and illuminating liner notes, as always! One strange thing I noticed on my copy of the CD is that "Stay" and "Trying To Tell You" seem to be the same song. Perhaps two different, but VERY similar, takes?

font class="post"1b,121b,121b,121Sayin'. I'm waiting until I can get it at my local mom and pizzops. b,121b,121fuk a soundscan. img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" 21
font class="post"1b,121b,121Except that soundscan numbers help acts get venue bookings, which is where the real money often is. Maybe not with Jake One, but with acts who tour, you want to make sure their album scans.

font class="post"1b,121b,121b,121I know. Thes alluded to this conundrum in the other New Music thread. I realize Soundscan's importance, but if it's between me buying it at Borders and buying at the record store I used to work at (where I managed the hip-hop section) I have to go with my alma mater.
Went to the store to pick up the Jake-One I ordered, but when I got there it turned out to be a clean promo copy for me instead of the real deal. Had to order it again, but it won't be in for a few weeks. Goddamn you, Indianapolis.b,121That new PUTS came in last week though and hasn't left the player yet, so at least i won't lack listening to good music until that Jake-One arrives.
on first lsten that devin joint sounds like a bunch of throw-a-way shit. no "concept" joints at all, the lyrics aren't as clever as usual, some of the beats are pretty bad too.b,121b,121oh well, i'll have to give it a real good liste to give a final judgement.b,121b,121b,121b,121peace,xavier
the jake one album is insane, my only complaint is the waste of that beautiful beat ("scared") w/ blueprint on it. other than that the album is perfect, and w/ the instrumental cd as a bonus i'll never have to listen to blueprint on said beat.b,121b,121b,121congrats jake!b,121b,121b,121b,121peace,xavier
b,121devin album is kinda boring, not bad but not great either.
b,121only 12 tracks long and the last one doesnt have any rapping on it

font class="post"1b,121b,121Damn, leave it to RAL to throw salt in their own artist's game.b,121b,121Anybody heard the fake album? Is it old verses reconstituted, or what?
b,121He's not on RAL anymore--hence the fake album.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Yeah, I get it - intentionally attempting to confuse people into buying i1their[/i] release instead of his actual new album... a sorry trick but I guess it's worked often enough for them to keep doing it...b,121b,121Considering its still Devin I am curious about the quality of the CD though.
