  • haha! its past my bedtime tho. img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" 21b,121b,121u know, ive recently had to stop eating a lot of the finer greasy spoon establishments in LA cuz my stomach and cornhole cant take it no more. that being said, i think i can swing something like this. in no specific order.b,121b,121b,121gaja has a lunch special just under $10 with 3 mini okonomiyakis and the shit is bangen. but even with the dinner fry -it-yourself okonomiyaki mixture thingies it prolly still hovers around $15 or so. and itll feed 2. easily. lomita.b,121b,121carousel. lebanese food. ms. spaceghost hipped me to this spot. i wasnt so keen on the shawermas and such but the middle east does not F*ck around with the vegetables. none of that robotically made shit. everything hovers below or around $10. sherman oaks i think? definately thee valley. not the one in glendale. F*ck that disneyland belly dancer bs.b,121b,121el parian. the asada is some quality ass shit. its basically a steak with delicious seasoning and handmade tortillas which are key. i think it hovers around $10, might be more tho, im not sure. pico union.b,121b,121golden deli. whatevers. its all good if u ask me. but i really like the curry with baguette and the bun. i think this may be under $5 so throw in one of them lettuce wrap appetizers for a bump. itll still be under $10. i believe this is in rosemead, sgv.b,121b,121honey kettle. and no im not talken bout the crappy ass culver city greaseball joint. im talking about the original one in compton where they actually care about how the chicken is made. always crispy, never greasy. not a big sugar fan myself but them honey packets and that chicken were made for each other. i still think maurice's snack n chat was better but for the price u cant beat honey kettle. b,121b,121admittedly, i am not very familiar with all of orange co. and most if not all of west LA/santa monica. am i missing anything tho? b,121b,121oh, santouka is a gimme. everything is under $10. u cant get quality like this anywhere outside of an island nation.

  • some disclaimers!b,121b,121golden deli pho has too much fat in the broth.b,121b,121honey kettle fries. dont do it! they salt the shit out of them with that season salt paul prudhomme crap. too salty dudes!b,121b,121gaja. get them to flip ur pancakes. theyll do it for u. its kinda hard to do it right and it becomes a big mess on the griddle thing.b,121b,121b,121b,121good nite moon! img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" 21

PROPER.b,121b,121I've never tried the curry with baguette at Golden Deli which is funny since I was eating there back in the '80s on the reg, but always rocked the rice noodle and occasionally some pho. b,121b,121I might be up in Sherman Oaks soon - I'll have to check out Carousel though I would like to find a place that does shawerma right. I copped some from Falafel-Arax (Hollywood/Normadie) - their falafel is incredible but their meat...eh. b,121b,121You're not missing much on the Westside. There's no cheap shit out here I'd recommend that'd be worth a drive - anything you can find here, you'd likely find better elsewhere. The only exception I'd make is this great Indian/Burmese joint, Jasmine Market, on the southside of Culver City.

  • oh! theres a pretty decent burmese spot out in whittier. i ate there once with iron monkey and his lady and another time with some chinee homays. i gotta say, for things like korean, banquet style chinese, burmese, and thai food, i will rarely go without someone who knows how to order. knowing how to order at asian restaurants is pretty much the key to a good meal. seriously.

  • also, re: sherman oaks. there is a QUALITY portuguese bakery out there. i cant remember the name off hand but they make malasadas fresh. u have to call in the order. thats how fresh they are.

PHO 2000 IN K-TOWN. PLEASE BELIEVE IT. NO MSG. SOUP IS MADE FROM OX TAIL?! EASILY THE BEST PHO I'VE HAD. WORTH THE DRIVE. WOULD BUY FROM THIS SELLER AGAIN.

If you're hungry as hell, go to Big Tomy's on Pico and Sawtelle and get the Tomy's Burrito with an Horchata. It used to be my late-late night guilty pleasure.

  • there is a taco truck in east la called el korita that makes baja style fish tacos as good if not better than tacos baja ensenada. what puts el korita over the top is that they hand make their own tortillas.
