The guitars are grungy as hell and the production style is appealingly loud. Two of the highlights are covers, Wilkinsons Tricycle???s ???What Of I??? and a short version of Spooky Tooth???s ???Evil Woman,??? but the originals are strong too. A good one. Highly recommended to fans of the first two Blue Cheer albums.

At least Alice and the boys redeem themselves with "Sun Arise," after a long, aimless "suite." The second half of the BOC is just unremarkable.b,121b,121But the first side of either album is right up there in the Gallery of the Greats...not bad for "ninety-nine cent." b,121b,121h,121font class="post"1b,121b,121Second side of 'Love it to Death' is an aimless suite? You mean you are calling 'The Ballad of Dwight Frye' an aimless suite?? That may be the record's essence right there (obviously "Eighteen" is it's defining moment). I will put up "Ballad of Dwight Frye" up against "Black Juju" on side one any day.b,121b,121That said, thanks for talking about this record, I do indeed love it to death.

THAT'S what I meant by a "suite." As big as Cooper was on theatrics, don't tell me that wasn't intentional. If my memory is wrong, then the joke's on me, but the point is that none of those songs really registered with me like "Sun Arise" and the entire first side.

Personally, I have always loved the whole LP, but can understand the criticism.

font class="post"1b,121b,121I usually skipped over most of Side 2, and even I had to notice what an interesting end-closer "Sun Arise" was. It's even more odd coming after "Black Juju" (on the tail end of Side One)!b,121b,121/font1

font class="post"1b,121b,121Don't get me wrong, I like Alice Cooper, but when he gets on that "conceptual" jag, he loses me. That's what messed up School's Out for me, the fact that there's this huge West Side Story multi-song production number running through the middle of it...

I've been looking for the Yesterday's Children album for years and it never turns up here in CT (home of the band).

font class="post"1b,121b,121Map City just seems like an interesting label, period...I have records by the Blue Jays (LP), We The People (45), and the Purple Image (later CD reissue on Radioactive)...none of these records have anything in common, but are real good in their respective genres...so if its on Map City, then its got to be goodb,121b,121(but I draw the line at those "zodiac horoscope" records they put out!)

I dunno myself, I thought I'd grab the popsike pic so we all could know. It was proclaimed "white soul psych" by the seller. Yet, a seller advertised Dick Domane as rare psych too so...

font class="post"1b,121b,121What's REALLY weird is that there are 2 copies on Popsike ...one says French pressing and the other says Brazil.....have never seen this LP in the wild...ever.
