Monster cables are a complete waste of moneyb,121b,121http://consumerist.com/362926/do-coat-hangers-sound-as-good-monster-cables/a1

It was your standard "Monster" steez.b,121b,121Most of the "name" stores only sell generic Monster style cables. Pricey spools for fools.b,121b,121Lookin at J&R Music stores reveal the same shit.

I acquired an amount of (surplus to their requirement) thick, heavy copper cable when I did some work for an electricity provider. I was going to solder it to both ends as the amp and speaker connections were way too small to take it.b,121b,121Explained this to the engineers there and there's a point where the cable is so thick that the resistance in it means you need a gringdonkleous amp to drive it. I don't know what AWG mine now is, but this is the stuff the car audio headz told me to get on another forum.b,121b,121To be honest though, I'm not running it at "Bangggging in the clurrb" levels, so I doubt I am hearing much difference. Diminishing returns etc.b,121b,121You want the purest ish for maximum joy. Gold cable. Baller$ only.

  • Copper is copper, thicker gauge is better. 14-16 awg should work great.

b,121b,121Yes, yes. Bananas are nice too. I had some friends that were experimenting with speaker cables by reducing the number of strands used to see if they discern any difference and difference was negligible until you got down to about 5 strands. Don't go to big, don't go too small, make sure it is quality copper and you are good to go. b,121b,121Also heard positive reviews about the Cat 5 diy cables shown above. All about high quality copper. Good luck.
