Grabbed a couple more tonight while I was downtown:

Upgrade to a nice ATCO OG from the 80's Alligator press I've worn out...

Don Gibson is generally pretty good country, and this whole album is fantastic. Country is one of the only kinds of music where I can still find minty copies of great albums for next to nothing.

    WHEW! nice ones!

you get them for cheap? ive got both of those Cunimondos, had to pay a bit for saggitarius, and i still need that Silhouettes 45. you got the lp? it's great

well, i paid[/b] for Sagittarius (more than i've ever paid for a record before), but i still got it at half (at most) of the Ebay price, considering its in awesome condition. Echoes and the 45 were cheap though!
I only have a dub of the Silh. LP, would like to have the OG but not sweating it that much, parts of it don't sound that good to me.

Yeah I think it was on the product placement... first heard about it on this forum a year or 2 ago (think it was DJ Sheep who had a copy?). Been chasing it ever since, my copies stone mint, unplayed - made my week I'd scan it but my photoshops on the blink. The Eazy E doubles are a bonus!

  • Copped yesterday:

Luiz Bonfa - Le Roi de la Bossa Nova LP
Rush - Moving Pictures LP (for $0.33, not bad for the Tom Sawyer break...)
Kool & The Gang - Duji 45 (keep finding these!)

not too much else, this weekend was as dry as grandma's twat...

anyone know the scoop on Walter Stedding and the Dragon People?

NY post-punk / no wave scene. Cool 2 tune 12"er which is quite good. I like it.

Apparently on Andy Warhol's label who was also the executive producer and did the cover art. A guy has a sealed copy on his site where he sells Andy Warhol art, etc. He's got it for $1000 which i am certain is truly NUTS.

got the following for free, for helping a friend price records at a record show:

ragga jungle anthems vol. 1 and 2 (greensleeves)- some of this is a little too etheral for me, but the remixes of "under me sensai" and "no, no, no" are off the chain...

public enemy- shut 'em down 12"

grant green- blue breakbeats (nice late 90's comp of most of his funky shit)

pretty purdie- soul is... scuffed, but playable OG

juicy lucy- get a whif a this (nice funky rock, with cool cover feat. S. Clay Wilson's Checkered Demon on the cover, some comix shit i used to love in high school)

    laid back- white horse 12"

government issue- boyscott stabb (OG dischord HC)

soul survivers- when the whistle blows, anything goes with the...

motorhead- beer drinkers (italian comp. from 82 with "white line fever" , "motorhead", "keep us on the road" and more)

    james gang- 16 greatest hits

    sizzla- ghetto revolution LP

sugar daddy- another one bites the dust 12"

    ludacris- move bitch 12"

james brown- black cesear OST OG

plus 5-6 things i am too tired to mention and a nice stack of 45's including:

    mighty mighty- baby huey (curtom)
mony mony/land of 1000 dances- axe (nice glam)
i want you bad- james brown (early shit on Federal)
osmonds- one bad apple (it's no "crazy horses" but not bad...)

and the following "sound man meets disco DJ" acetate:

flips side is "TSOP". i actually see these around NYC a fair amount, but people usually charge too much for 'em...

certainly a nice haul for free, tho i did hang out and price his records all day...

  • i had that walter stedding at one point.... i sold it for $100 to this warhol nut my mom dated in the 70s. dude is a total sociopath. wears slippers made out of hollowed out bunny carcasses with sweatpants and slobbers a lot. i was real geeked to find it, but was disappointed with the music. shit just sounds like a pale chick imitation of the birthday party. the two women on the record worked at allen stone gallery. andy met them there and decided to sign their band to his label, as well as getting the drummer from bush tetras to play with them. the guy in the group went on to form dizzy and the romilars and looks a lot like the frisco disco version of amadeo pace. you're much more likely to get $ from a warhol collector than any kind of downtown music snob.

You know, I actually have no idea how to do that either, but just assume that everyone else does at this point. So I feel you. Record looks/sounds sick.

On a different tip, you getting all the disco stuff from one collection? If so, someone had really fantastic taste.

i had a feeling you'd be the one to answer this one.

thanks for the info. the slipper wearing fellow is Walter Steding or the guy you sold it to? That sounds quite nuts.

i can understand your disappointment, but I dig it. Nothing life altering, but a good beat, odd label, no wave type sound. On a totally different note, i have the DNA EP if you by any chance need it. After all these years of not owning the thing, i buy it from a local shop and realize i can't listen to that stuff anymore.

Schnipper- the disco 12"s are not coming form a private collection but ratherr from a couple sources- and we're talking about going through thousands after thousands of 12"s in order to pull out the interesting ones. lots of work and seriously strenuous in terms of process but fun.

Marc Moulin- Into the dark 12" (99cents out of the La Jolla Tower records clearance bin. i figured it couldn't be too bad. groovy lounge shit. it's decent.)
