Hancock has never been afraid to flirt with pop and has done well with pop and jazz standards, but he has always been open to experimentation. He's one of those musicians that is worthy searching for in the liners, be it Miroslav Vitous or Ed Thigpen.

I love Ramsey Lewis, there is always something nice on each of his records. One of my favorites. I also love Ahmad Jamal & Herbie Hancock. I rate them all about the same.

Ramsey was one of the of THE best of the easy to find dudes when I started digging jazz and funk. Found a copy of Funky Serenity and never looked back, quickly followed by Sun Goddess and Upendo Ni Pamoja. Wish the he would come my way sometime during festival season...is he still funky? . Cosine on the record posted by Flomotion... SO GOOD.

See, I think this is an important point. I've always been a big Ramsey Lewis fan but I divide his discography in to two chapters. The Cadet era, from which I take "Another Voyage" as his greatest( that record is so funky for something from that time and style it's INCREDIBLE). I guess this is the case thanks to the presence of the one and only Maurice White on drums and Kalimba. Then there's the Columbia era, from which my favorite is Sun Goddess(I guess this might also be due to the fact that Maurice White was back on board with some of the production and playing). b,121b,121Ramsey's music is always img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/breakface.gif" alt="" 21 bound.
Question. Doing a search, I saw that there's a 12" of his cover of "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In", and while the label scan on eBay is blurred, it looks like it's about 10 minutes. Is it a completely different mix from the album version, or just a re-edit?b,121b,121
