yes. I wouldnt recommend installing shit unless you have an already unlocked phone.

    Here's the best method:

Plug your phone to your comp & Sync your phone so that all contacts calendar, etc.. are saved. Then click restore...When it asks if you want to "restore from backup" or treat as "new phone" choose NEW PHONE.

Then just go to ziphone.org and download ziphone and run it.

Nothing bad will happen to your phone I promise.

After ziphone is done you will have the installer app on your phone's home page. From there you can begin installing 3rd party apps. I suggest starting with BSD Subsystem as it is needed for many of the other apps to run.

    Have fun!

(BTW...the Nintendo emulator is a little tricky. Let me know when you get there.)

dont restore as new phone, backup your phone when your in itunes restore.

You dont even have to go into itunes to crack/jailbreak it.

    Start here
    Get Ziphone off google.
    Run the jailbreak only option
then when you get the installer follow this guide.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si8tcHvUmG4
then download iphonebrowser and also ibricker

then your set. follow this guide for all the sources.

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=Rp2TpbCdsGU&feature=related

You will now have tons of software to download. I like beatphone for making beats, make sure you get 2.6 dont download 2.4
    the moo piano is raw
    band is dope
    wallpaper is cool

I just got this thing and have been nerding out for hours. Mad shit you can install.

    No.

Everything is saved in the sync.

It's no big deal if it's your first time but next time you restore your phone because you dug too deep and need to start over, (and YES that will likely happen in time) just do it like I said.

Is any of the above applicable to the ipod touch? I am mad when it comes to appleworld.

If you follow those directions I posted above and added all those sources, just type nes in the installers search. The install "classic nes roms" will put like 20 roms on your phone. If you want to add a shitload though you do this,

    download roms torrent
    http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3843955/nesroms

then with ibricker (http://bitsplit-enterprises.com/iFuntastic/ if you have a mac)
    goto files
then go to /var/mobile/media/roms/nes where you will see all the roms. Then just upload the roms you download to that folder. Just make sure they are in nes format.

This shit is ill. I should have cracked my ipod a while ago.
So I finally got the NES up and running now I gotta get my ass to sleep!

For anyone else who wants to do it the easy way, download the NES Emulator and follow these directions

SOULSEEK for iPhone & iPod Touch

I got it to download and transfer the files to itunes but it took some SSH work. I'm sure they'll have it fixed in the next week or so.
I've been geeking out on this shit hard since I got it jailbroken

I just installed TouchPad and indeed it is face-melty and I haven't even activated Screenview yet.

In the meanwhile, there's a new TR-909 simulator:

    Thread bump.

I know some folks are gunshy about jail breaking their phones but these two apps are worth doing it for alone:

    MyWi: http://rockyourphone.com/index.php/mywi.html
    Tethering software. ESSENTIAL

    Wi-fi Sync: http://www.getwifisync.com/
Allows you to wirelessly synch w/ iTunes. It really should be something the iPhone already does.
