  • If you are looking for mixes the Kenny Dope and Karizma "Soul Heaven" double mix cd is rock solid.

Pretty much everything Karizma touches is fantastic - really refreshing drum programming and lots of soul.

Here is a good example (available at any of the digital stores - beatport, traxsource, etc):
Taylor McFerrin (ft Bobby McFerrin) - Georgia (Karizma's Bruk it Down rmx)

    Also check:
    Dennis Ferrer
    DJ Spen
    Kerri Chandler
    DJ Gregory

do you like the nyc vocal garage thing? Not as much of that stuff coming out now, most of that stuff peaked around 2000 and then took a dive into monotony.

Right now, the big sound is the more minimal kind. Look into a lot of the Sonar Kollektiv/Jazzanova related people (Wahoo, Dixon, Christian Prommer, Roland Appel, AME, Henrik Schwartz).

Since you're in Toronto, you might also want to look into older Nick Holder stuff (Da Sambafrique). Andy Roberts, local dj, puts on house parties worth investigating. Garage416/Hotstepper throws the occasional parties also.

A good recent comp to check is Gilles Peterson's In the House on Defected.

Cosine on what has gone before.

Also feeling the new Fanatix product and their remixes are generally top-notch. And Reel Soul; their remixes have got those chords going on. Plus, the stuff Louis Benedetti puts out with Gene Perez on bass is always nice.

Thanks for the blog reccomendations. I was really lookin foward to hearing that trus' me record but i was a little dissapointed. Somethings lacking and some of it sounds a little forced. It just dosn't have a natural swing to it.

wow, this surprises me. i really like that record. ok, it`s quite near to KDJ or theo parrish, maybe a little too obvious, but still - its very well produced, and the fact that kenny and a lot of other detroit house cats praise trus`me means something.

maybe i ll post some nu shit i did later.. might like these as well.

Cosine on a lot of the other stuff mentioned Joe Claussel is another artist worth checking out.

Also the Deep House Pages Forums are a pretty friendly place to get some recommendations and their mix archives are insane

a)stuttgart is germany`s motor city: mercedes benz, porsche..
b)obvious reference to the sound of the "real" motor city.
