    Good record spots

I miss when record spots didn't need to be filled
with raer to satisfy me. When 2 hours in the 50 cent
45 boxes would send me home with Question Mark & the
Mysterians and Al Green singles and I'd be stoked.
"I just got 20 sick singles for ten bucks!"

The seen it/heard it aspect of tha_game is frustrating.

    true.

    also

    Pre-ebay days

    Old friends

The rest is just the usual list of mildly depressing 'getting older' related curmudgeonations.

I got tons of mad shit going atm. Sure I miss people and places and things and times but I've been taking regular moments lately to appreciate how all of those things gave me the lifestyle I currently enjoy. Lots of good times with good friends is everything.

    1) Females really into Hip Hop - knowing the lyrics and dressing the part

    2) Reggae Jams in the park that is now the new Yankee Stadium. It was my first exposure to larger than human size speakers and Concentrated Local Carribean EXP.

    3) Lincoln Center (66th St.) Tower Records' Jazz section

    4) Deep Sound - the local record store on 161st. They were mostly Reggae but had a gang of early Hip Hop wax. SugarHill,Enjoy, Vintertainment. This is where I saw B-Boys - Girls Part 2 in various colours and lost it.

    5) Real Leather on Sneakers. This new pleather/vinyl bullshit is some bullshit. Nowadays, real leather is a luxury w/ these fuckin brands.

    6) Creative McDonalds Commercials. I dont eat the shit but damn those old school joints were done well.
"Keep Yo Eyes On Yo Fries......" mid school hypnosis.

    7) Black Consciousness amongst Local Black EXP. 14 year olds w/ a Nikki Giovanni book on the subway.

    8) When Onion & Garlic was considered a new adventurous flavor.

    9) Elegant Movie Theatres

    10) Black News in the late 70's early 80's. They had a crazy funky intro song. "Ooooh-Hoooooo..."

Playing drums every day. (shit, playing drums more than once every three months).

Being enthralled by hearing more music. I still love music, and hearing new great stuff is a thrill, but it's similar to what SOI said. I feel like I look back at my younger self spending heaps of time digging for records that cost a dollar or less just so that I could hear things that were beyond my frame of reference. It's rare for my audible world to get shook up by a recording these days. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
