Good luck, sounds like a cool project.

  • Someone who subscribes to terapeak or ebay market research should be able to search back three months and get you that data.

Have you talked to the 2 big gospel collector dudes here in Chicago? Or tried to mail the guy in Italy revskalablues? I've heard the Italian guy is very cool and all about the preservation of the music, and the Chicago collectors (names escape me ) are also very very cool and would surely help you if they had the records themselves.

The Chicago collectors I've talked to (more venerable folks than I, to be sure) are not incredibly familiar with the Mississippi Nightingales (a fairly obscure group), much less a vaporous single of theirs that just might not exist ever again, past the auction in question.

Or maybe I'm just seeing a dark tunnel on this.

It would be interesting to find a dude who collected strictly gospel that was a total asshole.

  • Not sure if this helps, but I won a copy of the "bright sunshiny day" LP recently. Was this the seller "thewaxman" perhaps?

No - it was the copy sold prior to this (by about a month or two).

Thanks for your responses and leads, folks. Again, please forward as necessary.

Revskalablues is a helpful guy with tons of knowledge - he would have almost certainly seen/bid on that auction.

But you already know that. Everyone who looks for eBay gospel knows that.

    The Strut comes through!

I was just PMed the listing from early December. As I told the member, the surviving 4 members of the group are going to be happy men. I am going bonkers right now. Turns out the label is "D and G" from Texarkana, AK and not "D&C" of Columbus, MS. Anyone have info on this label?

Back to work on this labor of love.

    Special thanks to _____.

    Seriously.

Now, to speak to "staten1964." Any of y'all know this cat?

Again, the greatest of thanks to the Strut from the Nightingales (and myself).
