Was cleaning out my collection today and came across this Brian Auger's Oblivion Express record and decided to play it again. Must have picked this up 10 years ago at a fleamarket I think. It's actually pretty fat! Dude's pulling out all the stops on that rhodes. This is going to be on my turntable for a little while.Any other albums by this fellow that are worth picking up?

  • Yeah, pick 'em all up...You can usually get his whole catalog for cheap and they're all worth throwing on the T-Tables every once and a while IMO.

Both the Live Oblivion albums are good.

This is Volume 1 - Volume 2 has the same cover, but in a reddish pink.

I like this one, too. "Light On The Path" is my shit.

  • Also got the one with Julie Driscoll where's she's sporting that really terrible mullet on the cover...can't remember being too crazy about that one though.
The name of the record escapes me.

Oh, I just found it...it's with a girl named Julie Tippetts.

Auger went through a couple different phases with his music, starting off with more of a Rock-Soul sound at first and then getting more jazzy as he got older. Part of that had to do with the change in his backing band. Here's reviews of most of his albums. I like the earlier stuff my self.
