I'm gonna start this one a bit earlier since it's already Saturday afternoon here & I spent the morning at the Auckland Record Fair. Got some cool stuff, still an abundance of old grippeurs who seem to bring records only to show them off, not really sell them. The one pretty bad moment was when I pulled Melvin VanPeebles 'Brer Soul' out of a box only to have the guy give me a history lesson on Melvin & then decide to keep the record, what the hell dude?? It was the only LP he had that I even semi-wanted to contemplate purchasing too.The 45s were all 50c each & the most expensive LPs were $15 for the James Brown double LP, Joe Quarterman & Mongo Santamaria (which is a local NZ press of that, I had never seen a local press of his Atlantic stuff before this one). All in all it was a good morning, although I forgot to bring a list of my 45s but seeing as I only already have 4 of the ones I bought today already I think I did ok. 45sMarvin Gaye - You're A Wonderful One (Stateside UK)Joe Jeffrey Group - Pledge Of Love (Scepter NZ)Betty Wright - Shoorah Shoorah (RCA NZ)Left Banke - Walk Away Renee (Philips NZ)The Supremes - Love Is Like An Itching In My heart (tamla Motown NZ)The Marshes - Whatever You Want (Heliotrope)Gerald Wilson - Light My Fire (Pacific Jazz promo)Johnnie Taylor - Cheaper To Keep Her (Stax NZ)San Remo Strings - Hungry For Love (Ric-Tic promo)Martha & The vandellas - In My Lonely Room (Stateside UK)Modern Jazz Quartet - EP (Esquire UK)Roy Budd - Summer Samba (Parlophone UK)Four Tops - I Like Everything About You (Motown)James Brown - It's Christmas Time (King)Smokey 007 - Never Ending Song Of Love (Seville UK)Oscar Toney Jr - Is It Because I'm Black (Contempo UK)The Supremes - He Holds His Own (Motown)Martha & The Vandellas - I Can't Dance To That Music You're Playing (Gordy)The Temptations - Loneliness made Me Realize It's You That I Need (Gordy promo)The Temptations - I Know I'm Losing You (Gordy promo)Dee Clark - Hey Little Girl (Top Rank NL)

The bottom left one is the SMOKE - s/t on MPS. Very nice record.
The Stan Levey is an OG - Leroy Vinnegar on bass, cool indeed.
bottom right one is helen merrill.
i picked up that snadie shaw the other day --- the "satisfaction" on there is awesome!!!
Nice score!!
They're a slightly larger Fanny
Rock/kinda folky with a little heaviness. The best song is Cant Stop The Madness. Oh, and the chick on the right sittn on the stool.
the album with the jukebox on the cover has some nice drum action...but i only ever see the coke one...
the little pile of 7's are from some charity shops.
the "Shades of Joy" was jazzier than i expected seeing as i read somewhere they did some soundtrack for El Topo - but a lovely listen nonetheless. Been after the Chrysalis for ages -- really chuffed to finally have a copy. i love this album.
7's are:
SUZI QUATRO - "cream dream" (b side wins again - nice drums)
ELVIS COSTELLO - "watching the detectives"
BLUE MINK - "good morning freedom"
BLUE MINK - "melting pot"
THE MIXTURES - "the pushbike song"
BLUE MINK - "randy"
What? Popsike is blocked at work.
It has been in the four figures at least once...
ouch...I hate seeing this...seriously...
worst thing was when I found my copy of eddie russ...the cover looks like it suffered through the rapture...
still, im not too sure those alex harvey band records would be my thing with or without the fungus!!

What's the one on the upper left? I've never seen that disco sleeve.
Looks like Ruby Lipps - At The Roller Rink/In The Summertime. IMO pretty average 12" with some cool moments. Could be good edit fodder.
It's Ruby or Rudy Lipps or something like that, I'll have to check when I get home. It's a Cleveland, OH label. Sounds pretty decent, disco 2-sider. I couldn't find anything on it. Any OH heads know the deal?

Ah, beat me to it...Nothing special.
