Hey ako, you guys play anywhere around town? I lived there for 10 years, kinda miss it, especially this time of the year.
Gabes? Is The Greenroom still around? My boy Blake opened that joint up, always dug it, and those other Gilbert St. bars.
Is that shitty rap group Bad Fathers still around town? They used to be called The Committee.
we dont have enough songs to play a show yet, but thats the intent, planning on playing a show within a month or two...
Gabes is The Picador now...but same vibe and everything. all they did was some minor remodeling. not sure if the Greenroom is still around, i know what youre talking about but i havent heard about it in a while.
apparently Bad Fathers moved to California...hahaha
my friend said when Edan played here, Bad Fathers open and edan was just straight up like "you guys are fuckin horrible..."

ok, its me on drums, my best friend on guitar, his girlfriend on vocals and our other friend on synth...the whole point of the band was basically to force ourselves to do something regularly once a week, and to have a band with enough of a gimmick that people would enjoy it even if we didnt try very hard..hahaha
so my friends girlfriend: (IMG src=http://photos-715.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v120/20/31/14820715/n14820715_36149686_2455.jpg>) wrote this song, melody and lyrics, its in chinese and i dont know what shes saying. its kinda cute, i dont know. really weird because she doesnt listen to music ever, yet wrote this song. my friend just wants her to spazz out and go crazy on stage and be all fun and sexy and shit. shes into that. dont expect much, but lets see some feedback. haha
apologies for the recording. i like how the drums sound but it was recorded on my friends laptop with the built-in mic so it could sound better. plus everybodys playing pretty sloppy.
Hey Ako,
With some work, you guys could be on to something. Now, I'll say something I thought I'd never say. While your drumming is great, you drowned out everything else by playing too loud (especially when on the ride cymbal parts). Maybe this was due to recording from a laptop mic. Otherwise, there seems to be some potential. Best of luck!!!
Ako, first off, I am a fan of your production: thoughtful, soulful and skillfully executed. That is why I don't understand this project because it seems that this "gimmickey" band is none of those things. And your boring but cute singer is a gimmick with limited shelf life. So I'm confused. Maybe I don't get this type of music; it's not my cup of tea. It boils down to this for me: Would you buy it or are you doing something for the sake of doing something? Maybe I'm too serious. Please give me insight why you are doing this project.
Sorry to sound all harsh, but I feel that being honest is more important than saying "Whoo hoo" for no reason.
Maybe your forgetting that music is fun to do, period, and every project doesnt have to be some soul searching masterpiece.
I think being free to branch out and do different things with music, and not taking it to seriously are the most important things an artist can do to stay in love with music. Its also a hell of a way to break a slump.
Ako, i see some indie-rock potential. Do some shows, get some nanny, make some money, have some fun.

Fair point Gamble. I concede that much of the time, I do take music making too seriously...

This is actually one of the things I liked about it - the drums were super loud/noisy. Has a go team-ish quality to it.

I do too actually, which is something I'm trying to get over. I feel a fair deal of my slumps have been over the fact that I wasn't making "important" music. "I'm not making mozart quality shit, so what is the point?". But you know what? Who is?

Ako just likes a girl that'll make him cry is all.
I liked the song Ako. I loved the freakout bit towards the end. My recomendations - the synth need fleshing out some, and the drums need thinning.
she knows i think that. its laid-back around here.
