So how are the Charles Sheffield recording and the Clarence Carter CD related? Did Clarence play on that song?
no, its a two-fer 45...Ichiban, for some reason issued Clarence's 80s track "Messin with My Mind" on a single with the Sheffield track as the flip...its really odd..an 80s chitlin circuit drum machine track b/w a 60s Excello raer..one of the stranger re-issues ever...
update...during my weekly searches, I just turned up the Ichiban issue...30 bucks, but that is more affordable than the $800+ for the OG.....
You stole mine. Second Best (with the same backing track): Carolyn Sullivan - Dead (Philips)
Also: 4th Coming - The Dead Don't Die Alive (Alpha) - Anyone with a copy of this - please respond. I know a grip of stock has turned up, and I'd like mine(s).
off-topic - I like how on the flip, Alpine Winter, is a totally different mood - the soundtrack to a romp through the snow and then hot toddies and fondue by the fire at the chalet.
no shit, Major Bill peppered a lot of 45s with that as a B-side...I recently won a Cresa Watson "These Boots were made for walkin" the seller didnt list the B-side...I was curious as to what it was...Frickin' Alpine track...again, Maj Bill wore that one out, as well as the "Dead" backing track...

That "Alpine Winter" is the flip of at least 3-4 different 45's that Major Bill Smith put out in Fort Worth.....not sure if he thought it would be a hit or if it was strictly filler when an artist only had one track.
The Cadillacs, "The Boogie Man" (Josie) Bettye Lavette, "Witchcraft in the Air" (LuPine) Ike Turner, "She Made My Blood Run Cold" (King) Rex Garvin & the Mighty Cravers, "Strange Happenings" (Chieftain) Fantasies, "Mesmerizer" (Whiz) Marvelettes, "My Baby Must Be a Magician" (Tamla)..."No mystic crystal ball / No long black flowing cape / But I can't escape / From his tender loving touch" Clea Bradford, "My Love's a Monster" (Cadet...different song from the Johnny Sayles) Popcorn Wylie, "Rosemary What Happened" (Karen) JC & the Soul Angels, "Nightmare Strut" (Tammy) Jackie Wilson, "Haunted House" (Brunswick) Johnny Otis, "Castin' My Spell" (Capitol)
I took a black cat, a cave bat, and threw them in a pot pot, pot pot pot pot I took a blue snake, a green snake, and tied them in a knot knot, knot knot knot knot I took a hog jaw, a dog's paw, and hung them on the line line, line line line line I took a horse hair, a green pear, and made a crazy sign sign, sign sign sign sign
I'm castin' my spell on you, I'm castin' my spell on you I'm castin' my spell on you, you'll never never be untrue
I took a goat's tooth, an old shoe, and put them in the ground ground, ground ground ground ground I took an old dish, a dry fish, and made a crazy sound sound, sound sound sound sound I took a goose egg, a frog leg, and hid them in a sack sack, sack sack sack sack I got a Hindu to tattoo a genie on my back back, back back back back
