If you've got Firefox, install the GreaseMonkey extension, and then find a GreaseMonkey script to download youtube videos as. You'll download them as .flv (flash video), but there's free utilities to convert them to .avis and .mpgs.
realplayer lets you download pretty much any media clip (even flash ads)...but i dont have it on here so im not sure how well it works. my friend has it on her laptop and everytime i scroll over any moving media a tab comes up saying "download this video"

Even easier using Safari. Go to the Window pull-down menu and open the Activity window. Look for the biggest file (size is in the right hand column) and double-click. It will start downloading the file in FLV format. Then isquint that bitch.
