My partner & I will be spinning soul & funk 45s at the Jeff Young (Steely Dan) show at Opium on wednesday night. This will be a special restaurant show by Steely Dan's tour rhythm section that includes Freddie Washington on bass . Doors are at 7pm.

    It was a really cool night. The sound guys set the turntables up next to the speakers though so I was riding the bass to control sub feedback all night, but apart from that it was all good. The band was frickin amazing, so nice to see dudes that can actually play really getting loose & having fun with it. Pretty inspiring to see from a musician point of view, funky as hell. Nice to play a gig where you can just play whatever you want to hear as well regardless of whether it all matches as well. Got heaps of positive comments on the selection though & the fact we were playing 45s.
