Over the summer I've tried to take a photograph of every pile of records I've dug through. (not including record shops/converntions) Sometimes I forgot. Here is what I've compiled so far.I have a vague idea of what I'm going to do with them when I got enough, although I'm not sure when that will be. This is more about docunemtation of an obsession, than record porn, so no raers.Just thought I'd share it with you, as it's record day. Here's a slghtly larger version.

Awesome. I used to take shots of garage sales or antique shops that I'd hit, but never just the record piles. Things like this make we want to get a camera again.

    Thats a really nice picture.
I know very little about photography from an art perspective, but i think its something that I really enjoy. Anyone got any other good pics?

    Thanks for the kind words.

They're all taken using my phone, as it's always in my pocket, and quality is not such an issue, it's perfect for this. Plus it has the advantage of being completely unobtrusive, so you don't have to constantly explain to people why you're taking photos of their stuff.

I'm jealous of your idea, I think I'm going to steal it... I don't even want to think about the pictures I would have by now if I'd have done this for the past years. I feel like I should kick my own ass real hard and thorough.

    Congrats, that's really cool!

  • thanks for the new background!

I miss this place. The owner recently skipped town with a sign saying "out of stock." Although he keeps putting stuff on ebay all the time. It's sad too, it was a great spot. This pic was taken in his attic. He had just got about 10,000 45's from a dude in the midwest...and had yet to go through them and price them. He let me go through 2 times but for only 2 hours at a time. I was pulling all sorts of heat, but you start to freak when he would start yelling "5 minutes up there." Frantically digging like hell, I'm sure I missed alot. But I scored those days.

Dude is still around, I saw him last week in Hollywood. Poor guy has always had a tough time dealing with his issues and I think he's shutting himself in. You should give him a call and just say whats up. I think he'd appreciate it and it may just possibly benefit you in the future if and when he starts letting folks back in.

Haha! The one Otis Funkmeyer had to leave when his girl spotted some roaches being chased by a rat! Bring your respirator and combat boots, this is trench digging.

Hey man, hope everything is going well with you too.

I tried calling him multiple times already and either he's online (still dial up), or goes to answering machine. I'll keep on it though, he was always so cool to me.

I recently lost a couple of great pics of guys in garages posing with their collection, it was all common pop music but they had great dj stories from the seventies. People over 40 just want the quick cash for the alimony instead of figuring out how ebay works.
