Um, Harvey wasn't the one posting pics of his dad on Soulstrut last week. You were, Wotevah. The above post is his reply to Dizzy Souse's accusation that his father never loved him.

read what you just said. am I at the right website?

uuhhh...you're talking about when I said my father looks like Grover from Sesame Street? apologies if that's innapropriate or makes me corny??? wasn't that in a thread about people looking like animals? and right next door - this little convo about fathers' love. wow. are you serious?

and dude...."Wotevah" is corny. at least call me assclown or something.

  • I like that fathers love and porn stars are being discussed at the same time in the same thread.

exactly.....father's or fathers' love rules. so does porn.

and speaking of - why the hell did Tera Patrick fuck up so bad and get breast implants? who told her that was a good idea? and has anyone seen Jenna Jameson recently? that's some scary shit.

  • WOW. they look like a fun crew to celebrate with.

Really. They all look constipated. Cracking a smile for a picture doesn't hurt street cred (does it?)

Are they supposed to smile to absolve your guilt?

    I don't get it.

DONT LET YOUR EURO-CENTRIC ARTISTIC SENSIBILITIES OF FACIAL EXPRESSION AND/OR PROPER MOUTH ALIGNMENT WHILE CELEBRATING AN ANNIVERSARY JUDGE "REAL, HARD AS FUCK" SITUATIONS. WHO THE FUCK WANTS TO EAT A SHEET CAKE WITH A SMILE? YOU PUNK ASS BATCH!!!!!

    OOOHHH now I get it.

I'm so glad Harvey is on the scene. What would white lizard people do without him?

Its too bad this thread turned into a cirucs because it would be cool to get up on some new SPC material. I haven't heard Black Book no. 7, but I'll be copping it soon.

When people outside of Texas think of Houston rap...I wonder how far down the totem pole South Park Coalition resides. Along with their affiliates from Street Military, there aren't any siginificant national-known hits between them. Yet when you talk to most young rappers down here, their bound to tell you just how influential SPC and SM have been for them.

For instance, I was listening to a decade-old SM 12" just last night and noticing how much Ryno really does sound like Lil Flea.

Overall point being...SPC represents Houston's first crew of rappers. And thanks to dudes like K-Rino and Dope E, they've managed to really make rap fans think beyond stereotypes and fantasy, leading them to address very real life issues. SPC is respected within their region like no other and their practice of reaching out to young, upcoming artists makes them as relavent now as ever.

People on this site pretty much hated it when Project Blowed was celebrating its 10th year anniversary and here is South Park Coalition pretty much receiving the same sort of snide who-gives-a-fuck attitude surrounding their 20th year anniversary.

I really don't know...to me, in the trenches is where the real rap thrives. And for so many to put so much on mostly-derivative, mainstream artists to the point that principled, community-based artists are left to fall by the wayside, it really makes me question peoples' motivations for supposedly being into rap at all.

"Hard as fuck" is not flexing your muscles for the camera or sporting a bankroll big enough to consort with the big dogs. "Hard as fuck" is sticking to your guns no matter how much static is thrown your way. It's persevering through industry blackballs and maintaining your however-unorthodox cache of methods and messages. It's having the balls to be unique to the point that standing alone against a contrary crowd becomes second nature.

David was "hard as fuck". Goliath was not.

At any rate, South Park Coalition should be celebrated as warriors in this shit.

The thing that surprised me about K-Rino & the SPC is how unheralded they are. I'm surprised that K-Rino didn't end up on Rap-a-lot in the early 90's with Ganksta NIP.

I'm really not up on most of their output but South Park Psycho is an album that has definitely got play over the years. I need to revisit it again soon.

The Terrorists were on Rap-A-Lot for a minute as well.

But yeah, K-Rino is such a down-to-earth dude. He's most likely unheralded because he's such a humble person who has never demanded that he be heralded. He's one of those who really, truly puts his people before himself.

I remember South Park Psycho being a bit too wild for me BITD. "Horror Movie Rap" was so weird & burnt. I copped pretty much all the rap-a-lot releases from that era, things like the Terrorists, NIP, TMT, Big Mello, etc...At that time, NYC was my pipeline to Texas. A local guy here in Montreal (Big up to Mike's Discount in CDN) would drive down to New York every week to cop the latest albums & would bring back whatever he could find. It would have been cool if K-Rino could have got "Tales From The Black Book" on to rap-a-lot. IMO, that album matches or surpasses anything on the label from that time.

  • What people don't give a fuck about is you. You post a picture and then say "name these rappers" and then you win your own contest by naming those rappers. What was the point? At least once a month you go on this texas rampage posting all sorts of jpegs or cd covers with no text to explain what they are and then when people clown on you, you think they somehow hate texas rap or something. No, its just that most of the time nothing you say makes any sense, and if anything you've probably turned people off from checking any of this shit out because you are so goddam corny. If haz says to check this shit out, then I probably will. If you keep posting up shit that makes no sense to anybody but you then don't get your feelings hurt when people ignore it.

Dizzy, please to start actually ignoring me ASAP. I promise that it won't hurt my feelings.

And yeah, SPC has been around for 20 years. So I find it very unlikely that people who haven't been giving a shit about them for that long are doing so solely because of me.

Why do more than a few of y'all think of Jews and "lizard people" as the same?

  • I always check these texas rap threads. So keep 'em coming. I know so little about the scene downsouth and want to explore it further as I've been feeling some the stuff from beneath the surface that I've checked.

It's a shame that the thread turned out this way. We should get some specific recommendations from the artists talked about instead.

  • this cake really makes me wish i was a rapper from texas. they must know someone at sam's club...
