its an amazing mix by levan that gives you a real feel for not just what dudes were playing but HOW, like to me this is the quintessential instruction on how to sequence and build a party. so many perfect tracks ... 'by the way you dance,' 'angel in my pocket,' 'funk train,' the cher joint ... such a good sense for flow and tension and release. gives you a much better snapshot i think than collectro blogs or random edit comps do i think.
gives u a good idea of Levan's dancefloor aesthetic too, the kinds of things he valued in tracks to make a mix 'work' ...

Anyways, has anyone on here ever been to Hot Jams on Pulaski in Chicago? Man, I miss Dre and his vast knowledge of disco. He would freak the fuck out when you would ask him for some good disco, some rare shit too. Pulling records out of nowhere...miss that dude.
