I was thinking maybe Johnny Watson, since he was recording
with Larry Williams for the label around the same time as
the hardest releases for Taylor on Okeh, although it's a
stretch. One problem is that Okeh don't have (m)any instro
45 releases, where a house band could be identified. I'd like
to know the answer myself, cause the band is definitely kickin'.

I do know Ted was working with a Chicago guitarist named Wiley Terry (who had an excellent R&B single on USA himself, "Follow The Leader"), maybe it was him? Don't know for sure...

Not quite - Ted Taylor actually left OKeh ('66) just a little bit before Johnny Watson arrived ('67).

On the Chicago-recorded stuff they do. Although some of Ted's OKeh records were recorded here, the songs I've heard those ripping guitar leads on all appear to be from elsewhere (like Nashville).

Actually, they both recorded for Okeh in '66, according
to the discographies I've seen, but yes, Taylor was on
his way out as Watson was coming in. And, as Hook-Up said,
it's not really Watson's style anyway - I was just thinking
out loud about what really skilled guitarists were on the
    label.
