has this been done here? i don't care plus i think they deserve credit for 90s R&B group Three Times One Minus One which i think is like Proto- "D**k in a Box"i wanna play pool with van hammersly
A couple weeks back, I rewatched all of Seasons 1 & 2, and will cosine this appreciation.
Their show meant a lot to me; it was Monty Python to American late teens/early 20s, rather than Brits. Their use of language is astounding, light years ahead of all other sketch comedy of the last 20 years (yes, Kids in the Hall), and their social commentary holds up remarkably well 10 years after it first aired.
In the words of the Coupon: The Movie testimonial...I SAW THE SHIT OUT OF IT!
When this was first being aired, I would be in tears while watching. The DVD's hold up, still funny. In fact, I think it's the only TV series that I own on DVD.
Dude I was just about to post Adam Jimmy/Titanica! I had it copied from you tube and everything! Funny as shit, I'll do another fav. Mr. Show was killing it!
everyone is all about david cross but i think bob odenkirk is one of the best straight mans in comedy history. larry kleist "i think the market's in a slump people don't seem to be interested in insurance these days". ROFLMAO
the seguing is the the best seguing of any sketch show ever.
I must admit I've only watched a few episodes of Mr. Show, but...
...really?!?!
yeah you make a good point, Monty Python is the traditional king of seguing
but I feel Mr show takes a slighty different approach to the whole seguing concept and is generally more consistent. Mind you I haven't sat down and watched MP for quite some time. I should really get that box set.
I posted this one on Waxidermy once in a thread that was titled, "What does the average Soul Strutter Look like". This was my idea of what the average "Waxidermist" looks and acts like.
Electric tie rack my baby loves it, racking up electric ties!
Don't remember the names, the two guys who sang acapella through megaphones that had a tour where they'd invent things then sing a song about the invention...
Fuck! This little motherfucker's tasty!
Guessing this might be the same hamburger commercial that 'it's so good, it's fucking great!' comes from?

In addition to the segues, all of the stuff where the audience was worked into the show or in the shots was always a cool thing for me too.
You are a tool.
