Thanks folks. Looking forward to enjoying the day tomorrow (it's not technically my b-day yet where I'm at).
In celebration of my 35th, I'm sharing an old mix-CD out of my archive:
I originally put this out back in the '90s (at this point, I can't even remember when) and have never brought it back into rotation. It was a concept mix of a sort, inspired by Sole Sides, whose name obviously inspired my blog's. Unfortunately, I don't have a tracklisting available - ya'll will just have to piece it together yourselves .

Thanks to Motown for helping me out with a clean copy since my original master had gone to shite.
Here's the track list:
1. Ride the Train Intro 2. Three Sounds - Look of Slim 3. Bobby Franklin's Insanity - Bring It On Down 4. O'Donel Levy - People Make The World Go Round 5. Ramon Morris - People Make The World Go Round 6. Ron Carter - Attica Black 7. Leon Spencer - Where I'm Coming From 8. Odell Brown and the Organ-Izers: The Weight 9. happy birthday oli! thanks for all the words, music, and wisdom shared over the years. hope you have a wonderful weekend with the family and a bunch o good records.
I've been wondering: what's the story behind that?
Also: I would like to note on this day that Oliver was the inspiration for the word "disconnected" as we use it today on SoulStrut. Specifically, in a fit of pique, the one Shied informed him that he was more disconnected from the skreets than any other writer currently working.

I would have preferred to have been the inspiration behind "the mack!" graemlin but hey, you take what you can get.
And I forgot you did up the whole "STOP WRITING SON" quote. I get this advice a lot, for different reasons.
