I'm 2.5 years deep on tabla, and finally making slight progress. What are people plucking/banging/bowing/blowing on?

This isn't exactly an instrument, but I've been making some fun music with it.

tabla is a beast. i played for 3 years before i felt like i was actually doing cool shit. if you havent already, start playing with other music on. definitely got me think outside the classical beat structure which a mind f*k already.

    for me????

    i need my acoustic, bad.

I gave up traps for table, so my approach has been a bit different. BUt I feel you ont he restrictiveness on traditional training methods. I haven't had a lesson in a year, and I feel like I'm better for it. I'm still struggling with doing a good job of tuning the daya though. Achieving clarity and consistency of tone with each stroke is my goal right now. It's tough. What gharana did you learn?

if id have to guess, it was Dehli though i may entirely be wrong. tuning is a real pain, especially if you have to pull the heads tighter. could never figure it out. gluck homey.

Good deal. I almost went for the nord electro 2 on ebay this weekend but it ended up going for a little less then a "stack."
