Ever...It would have to be Premier, right? As far as longevity, boom bap, influence on the game, etc. If not Premier, who else? I can't think of anyone who really compares!

Preme is my favorite. The way he flips/chops what is being sampled is typically as important as the sample . . . at least in his work for the past 12 years or so. The majority of sample-based producers I hear impart little if any of themselves onto (into?) their beats.

  • It's either Premo or Dre.

but Pete Rock is my favorite.

large professor/ pete rock / beatnuts / its between these three for me. i never like dre. although i did have a soft spot for the world class wrekin crew as im a huge electro fan, but that was lonzo anyway?

i do like premier though especially early on but i think he became too formulated and samey for me...

I do believe that when you diss Dre, you diss yourself.

Is there still no "You don't like rap" graemlin? Sheesh.

I'm unable to choose between Pete Rock and Premo.
Dilla is third on my list.

Definitley could of been the best if he wasn't forced in to early retirement, his drums banged on every track he touched!

Anyone who doesnt name either premo or pete is just trying to be different.
Anyone who doesnt name either Dr Dre or Marley Marl just doesn't like rap.

Yeah, I've always been a huge Pete Rock fan, but I think Primo takes the cake...He's been more consistant, been more frequently jocked, and put out more classic anthems...Other than Dre, I can't think of anyone who has been that consistant over the years...Dre has a good argument though, dude was doing electro shit b4 Primo even broke on the scence!

    Yogi

I love Yogi's production work on the Cru album but have sadly heard very little from him since.
