I love how this has been dominating ESPN for the past few days. I say, "Bring the title belt home. USA USA USA!" Chestnut by 3.

    Chestnut won because Kobi.. smashed some into his face at the last second and got some taken away.

    final score was 66 or 67 - 63

    I'm confused. i thought I saw last week that Kobayashi had jawthritis and couldn't open his mouth more than the width of a finger or he was in pain. Was that a joke? I thought he wsn't going to be able to compete. Did he just take some crazy pain killers and work through it?

    Yes, it was said that Takeru Kobayashi was diagnosed with jaw arthritis a week and a half ago, while preparing for the competition. Some say it was a cop-out on Kobayashi's part, knowing that he would be potentially defeated by Joey Chestnut. Other's say it was a psyche-out tactic by Kobayashi.

    Joey was winning for a good part of it, then around the 40s, Kobayashi was trailing by 1 or 2 dogs. Once they were up to 50, Kobayashi was shadowing Joey's intake. Then with a couple minutes left, it was tied, with Joey leading by seconds - according to the people who were counting with the numbered signs behind each competitor. At the 10 second countdown, they were tied at 63, but each kept going. Joeys number flipped to 64 at the very end. Everyone was very confused, so they reviewed the footage to discover that Takeru ate 63, and Joey, 66, setting the new Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Championship, and also breaking his record set earlier at 59 hot dogs.

    It's really a spectacle to be witnessed in person. The best part is the hosts / commentators. They're fucking hilarious and witty. Also not to be missed is Badlands Booker, a championed contestant who sets off the show with a rap performance about eating and food.
