    I'm thinking....

More straight forward old timey but Doc Watson with Merle.

Guy Van Duser more ragtime swing.

    Baden Powell

Bola Sete he has a record or 2 on Takoma

Peirre Ben Sussan his first one or 2 records, the second one has a great guitar arrangement of A Night In Tunisia

All those cats who did guitar records on Windham Hill, dollar bin instrumetnal acoustic.

cool thanks, but I should be a little more specific. I'm looking more for folk/psych stuff than bluegrass stuff. (Doc Watson is cool though, don't get me wrong)

I got this record recently by Tom Smith called "still life". Cool folky lp. Looking for similar stuff.

I have one of his Takoma lp's, it's very nice. That one you see around with the Sphinx cover...easy to get.

Omar Bashir - oud player from Hungary. I saw him at the Kennedy Center a bit over a year ago. He played for an hour, halfway between songs and improvisations; halfway between flamenco, Fahey and Hungary. He has a very long ponytail and looks focused when he plays. On his website, this is the only content of the section marked "Important Parts":

Jansch/Renbourn: "Stepping Stones" very nice, not 100 percent instro, tho.

Not "obscure," but a damn fine acoustic guitar/sitar LP with the bonus of some great drums from Bernard Purdie:
