Dude could play. A lot of self-indulgent, rambling terds in the body of work (Uncle Meat stretched to TWO CDs... I want that time back on my death-bed) but you can't fugwit "Shut Up And Play Your Guitar". Plus the band alumni list has some musical clout.Plaese to rep your worthwhile FZ output. There is a mountain of his other stuff out there that is Frankly (see what I did there) daunting and beyond the scope of my mortal coil to encounter. I need those shortcuts to the Raelnesssss.

I was a huge Zappa fan at one point; his catalog had a huge appeal to my one-time completionist tendencies. I still love certain LPs (the first Mothers albums, Apostrophe, Overnight Sensation, etc.), but I sold off a bunch years ago. R.I.P. to a one-of-a-kind dude.
The production on the late 70/80s studio stuff is crystal. I think FZ was kind of obsessed with using the best kit. If anything, it makes a lot of modern stuff sound like video-games...
