Don't sell yourself short on the c-section/breastfeeding issues. There are a lot fo societal pressures for/against both, and in the end it's nobody's f*ing biz what you do.

    Thanks! I really appreciate that.

Watching my daughter being born was, quite easily, one of the most traumatic experiences I've ever been through and I WASN'T THE ONE IN LABOR FOR 27 HOURS.

umm yeah. And I saw a C-Section. I did not know that they remove the intestines, and stomach and set them to the side and then push down on the belly! .

Yeah I am going to back that up. I can tell you my wife was depressed that she wasnt able to deliver vaginally. SHe felt that she somehow did not succeed. I guess a lot of women get those feelings. I thought she was a muthafuckin trooper though. She was tough tough tough! Especially cause have her guts were next to her when she did it.

THe breast feeding thing: PRO: Incredible bonding experience. CON: Women feel completely tied to the child because they either have to pump a lot ahead of time or be in place they feel comfortable to breastfeed when the child it hungry. THis can be overwhelming since the child is new, the woman already has hormones out of whack, and the child is dependant on the mother alone.

but like the man said. IF ITS NOBODYS FUCKING BUSINESS WHAT ANYONE DOES.*

*but every motherfucker has an opinion on how you are raising your kid wrong. And they can eat a dogs erection.

If the stories are true, princes were breast fed as late as four years by nurse-maids because of breast milk's rich nutrients and such. This is not an appealing image.

What I've heard from friends is if you're going to breastfeed past 6 or 7 months, start to wean them off it right before they go to bed or else you???ll be in big trouble as they get older. Then they won???t go to bed without it, in that they will associate getting breastfed with going to sleep and any chance of calling the babysitter/friend/neighbour, giving the baby just a shot of milk before you go out for the night will mean a lot of stress and unhappiness.

    pretty much.

You are supposed to eat the placenta as well.

Not you! The baby! I mean you can eat it if you want, but you're supposed to freeze it and when the baby gets sick, feed her/him some because it's packed with minerals, etc.

no no no. THE WOMAN IS SUPPOSED TO EAT SOME BEFORE BREAST FEEDING. We had a lactation specialist before and after the birth. and my wife was given the option to save the placenta so she could eat some.

    no thank you.

Hey Oliver - just out of curiousity, why do you use the term "partner" rather than "girlfriend" or "wife" or "boo" or whatever? I've never heard straight people do that. If this question is too nosy or personal please don't answer it.

  • My little homie, P, is 7 months.

I can't speak for Oliver, but lots of straight people say it, including Bob Dole when he was a spokesman for Viagra.

I say it when I'm referring to my boyfriend in a professional setting; I think "boyfriend" minimizes the length of and committment in our relationship (we're 3 1/2 years past the dating stage). Plus, I am sensitive to the fact that some people may perceive my use of "boyfriend" as a way of establishing heterosexuality.

    Urrrs,

If you've never heard straight folk use the term "partner" that's because you've probably never lived in the Bay Area. Shit is mad common out here.

Besides, considering that I wasn't married to my now-wife when we had our baby, calling her my "girlfriend" seems a little too high school and calling her my "baby's momma" didn't quite sound right either.

    damn..7 months already? crazy!
