Kenny Rogers Appreciation

My boy, who's not a collector, threw on dudes '71 Greatest Hits comp, with First Edition. Obviously, Just Dropped In is the joint, and a recent revisting of the Lebowski OST had piqued my interest in dude, but at least half of this is pretty dope, funky breakdowns, awesome background singing, drum breaks. I happened to have a more recent compilation of his stuff, and its really pretty corny, straight ahead country, but goddamn this older album is funky. Considering its a comp, I assume he's got some other joints, someone school me.Kenny Rogers, you just blew my mind.

I like the fuzz and flute on "Charlie The Fer De Lance". I won something like $25 in quarters on one of his slot machines last year in Las Vegas. "Jackass" and "Reno 911" made good use of him. He's alright.

The best thing about Kenny Rogers is his brother.

Yeah basically. I was just surprised I liked any of his stuff. His later stuff, which I had heard before, was just tepid. But yeah, I gotta ride for what he was doing in that era...
