Hello guys!In about two hours I'll be on the bus and headed for Paris, on a very open school-trip, so naturally I turn to the mighty SoulStrut and ask for any advice on - Record stores - Cool spots - Nice markets - Nice stores - Good clubs or places to go during the night (any of you French guys got any nights I should check out?) - Restaurants that are very very neccessary - +++Oh and I don't know shit about French raer, so any word on records I should be on the lookout for would be greatly appreciated.I'm really excited about going, it's my first trip to Paris AND my first trip to France, so I can hardly wait!I'll be around for about a week Thanks - J

well, i dunno what kind of stuff you're looking for but for me the best records shops are :
- chez youri, 60 Rue D'Argout 75002
- betino's, 32 rue Saint S??bastien - 75011 http://www.betinos.com/
On wenesday 4 mai, marva whitney is in concert at "new morning".
and during the night, i'm doing a party in a club, more infos here :
http://www.myspace.com/bongororo
and don't forget, 1st mai is a public holyday !! so, all shops will be closed.
have a nice trip !
that spot on st. sebastien is tepid. jazz corner of thw world is interesting cause its all jazz but again prices are just bullshit. one place i heard was good was called like yeti's cavern or something like that but guy's opening hours are random i thnk. good luck
...so much to do in paris don;t waste it on looking for records unless you got some real hot tips!!
croco jazz --> one of the worts stores i've ever been to. the owner is an idiot and retarded. still funny to go there. try to talk to him. you'll see.
the flea market in clignacourt is really nice. several places with records and old record players.
i'd try to find some book stores also selling records...
got your pm. i'll write back tomorrow. been really busy and my myspace crashed indeed.
Ah! that's funny cause Most-e-most and Kero One should be in Paris (I don't have news, holler!!!), DJ Sheep will arrive in a couple of days, and now you...
Like Roro said those 2 stores are ok but there are some other very necessary spots!
I'll check for the address and PM you the infos.
Archie Shepps 70th Birthday Concert is on May 7th.
The best Japanese ( ) restaurants are in "Op??ra"
...
Ok, if records are sort of not highly prioritized, how about some nice bars or clubs with good music, where should we go for some qulity nightlife?
Will definitely check the fleamarket, considering the weather is perfect.
Any other recommendations are very welcome!

ask the record dealers or take a look at a paris event guide at a kiosk.
expect to pay 6 euros for one beer. you'll have to take a taxi. the metro is closing way too early. paris night clubbing is kinda weird. not an easy thing to do.
we hung out in front of a tiny supermarket that was open 24 hours and drank huge bottles of kronenbourg. i don't know why, but on our way from paris downtown to clichy, we couldn't find any good bar or nightclub.
you might have to ask bapt.
other than that i can recommend le batofar and the mezzanin d`??lcazar.
record shop wise i ve been to a nice spot, but i cant remember the name. my friend in paris has a SERIOUS jazz/funk collection, but he mostly buys on the bay cause paris record shops have closed down or are too expensive.
Anyone else in Paris after Thursday holla too.
B
im trying decide whether to check out spinna tonite or the ninja tune dudes. i bounce like on thursday for nantes and shit
when i was back here last weekend i checked out betinos and itr was probally the best shop overall: but yo; for an american paris is RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE.
is Collette dope; thinking of checking that
european keyboards are weird
don't be put off by the Electronic heading, the list includes all kinds of shops
Most/Kero, make a sign.
I'm at 200 meters from Moars appartement.
lol , finally you've seen some girls! :-)
Colette is a waste of time, shit is "hype" (in the worst meaning of this word)
Yes, le Batofar is nice.
12inch is
Also, don't waste your time by checking Bassie's link (some of the stores in the list don't even exist or have changed of name...)
for what I know here are some stores you should visit :

... and more, here and there, in the suburb.
And if you're looking for some special stuff, raer... I can introduce you to some very serious sellers.
peace.
it wasn't too bad. not much for sneakers there though. hook your lady friend up with a gift or something. i'm pretty sure you would dig it. if you walk (might need cab) down that same street back towards the louvre, there's a really really dope sneaker spot on the other side of the street. it's a bit of a walk though. it's a really small store with their inventory down the street. you tell 'em your size then there's like a runner that goes down to the block to bring 'em back. they had like 10 pairs of sneakers i wanted, but nothing above a 9 or 10 when i was there last summer. the street that collette is on is pretty dope. walk that shit out.
hope you guys have a good time out there.
i love whats in this shop: tons of vinyl, lots of good stuff in piles.
however: the prices are usually $$$ and the owner is kind of a sourpuss.
its a good place to hit if you are feeling frisky, and just want to buy a couple "wall pieces" or browse thru an amazing 2 feet of serge gainsbourg LPs!
