Look out for the first Kriegel LP. It has a pink cover. Absolutely rare. But you might find it eventually. Kriegel records are not sought-after, so most collectors wouldn't even recognize his debut album. It's definitely his best work, besides the Davie Pike Set sessions.
I've seen a documentary about Kriegel on tv. He was sitting inside his living room, smoking pot, recording his sitar play on a reel-to-reel recorder, getting up from time to time to rewind the tape and listen to himself. Very funny. The whole Dave Pike Set recording sessions were mad. Pike didn't even do that much. He was wearing sunglasses and letting the other guys play. Most of the times, he was just jamming on the tambourine, while Rettenbacher and Baumeister went off.
Utrecht, Berlin Finds...Utrecht was pretty cool, prices were not so cheap but thats to be expected. a can soft drink was over 5 american.
good meeting you scope and thanks to pied piper for the berlin digging/drinking trek.

Got some ok stuff this week. The 3 LPs are a cool Walter Jackson Best Of, a Jonah Jones with a cool cover & an Andrae Crouch that is a two tracker at a stretch. As far as 45s go, I picked up a few cool local pressed soul things, some very average doubles from my girl, a bunch of ok US press soul/R&B, three old & mint swedish jazz EPs from the 50s & a bunch of good punk/hardcore (including a double of the Reason To believe EP that tricked me because it was the 2nd press on Nemesis that had a different cover to the first press on Soul Force that I already had). The list Arthur Conley - Aunt Dora's Love Soul Shack The Temptations - Psychedelic Shack The Temptations - Ball Of Confusion Ike & Tina Turner - We need An Understanding The Chiffons - Sweet Talkin' Guy Dave Clark Five - Bits & Pieces (German press) Elvis Presley - Suspicious Minds Joanie Sommers - Johnny get Angry The Vogues - Humpty Dumpty Jackie Wilson - Reet Petite (reissue EP) Hank Ballard & The Midnighters - Let's Go Let's Go Let's Go Hank Ballard & The Midnighters - The Twist Hank Ballard & The Midnighters - The Switch-A-Roo Hank Ballard & The Midnighters - Finger Poppin' Time Albert Collins - Homesick Fantastic Four - You Gave Me Something Etta James - My Dearest Darling JD & The Evil's Dynamite Band - Haaa-Sheesh Jean Knight - Mr Big Stuff The Midnighters - Work With Me Annie Chuck Rainey - It's Gonna Rain (promo) Hacke Bjorksten - All Star Sextet Rolf Ericson & Benny Bailey - Quintet Rolf Ericson & Benny bailey - A Sunday Session 22 Jacks - Swallow 97A - It's In Our Power Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys - Back Door Dan Bracket - "F" Is For Fat Guttermouth - 11oz Guttermouth - Puke Guttermouth - Balls H2O - It Was A Good Day Hot Water Music - Where We Belong Hot Water Music - You Can Take The Boy Out Of Bradenton Los Straightjackets - Gatecrasher Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Where'd You Go Mr T Experience - Sex Offender Right Brigade/A Poor excuse - Split Third Degree - 7-Plys Tilt - Worse To Bad
many of these were dug out of the bed of an old pickup truck that was totally full of LPs. About 12" down, it got moist and pulpy, and hundreds of decent records had been ruined. but the top 12" or so were still dry and in pretty good shape. i also took a few of the wet ones (ruined ones were free) because they were still good players.. stuff like america eats its young and such.. just to have a pile of fun stuff to play and not worry about mintyness.
^^ this is one of those records you probably shouldnt play as you will become a zombie
^^the kris peterson brings the jams, and the appaloosa is nice listening. aleit holler if you need the ebenezer
^^ joe south has 3 tracks arranged by axelrod. sound of '68 is Alshire, has 2 x animated egg tracks.
^^ filling in madd holes in my 70s soul
^^ con'td. never seen that late chicago gangsters or the chuck brown before.
^^ contd soul gaps filled. super stoked to find an og musical massage. De Vaughn has "be thankful... revisited", kind of a disco refurbishing of a track that did not need to be refurbished!
^^ cont'd cont'd... the pachanga is authentic but tepid. epic 12" is mtume juicy fruit with instrumental b-side. the other 12" is elenor grant 'i am ready (sexual healing)'
^^ devils anvil aint easy to find
^^maxine brown: absurdly good! Stalag 17-18-19: 12 different uses of the "ring the alarm" riddim. i like the "whats love got to do" version.

I'd never heard that first Kriegel album on Liberty. "With A Little Help From My Friends", right? What's up with that one?
I think "Inside: Missing Link" is a pretty solid Kriegel album.
Who is the guy in the top left corner? Looks like Terrence Howard with bigger hair.
^^ anyone know anything about this?
Dutch dance-pop act from the 80s. I remember they had hits with "History" and "Body And Soul". I haven't heard them for years, but I remember them as being too lightweight for my liking.

I came across the Liberty LP once and it was around 150???. I??ve never heard it as well. These Dave Pike Set LPs are cool, but I really dig his solo Lps. Spectrum is the best one IMO, Missing Link is really good as well; so are LIFT, Octember Variations and Topical Harvest. good old MPS...
I sold my tropical harvest, i think its a turd. but cosign on volker kriegel being dope nonetheless, i really dig the track "mindwill". havent seen his debut. He is also featured on this crazy record...
the granby st redevelopment - jelly roll (legrand) bobby dixon - woman you made me (probe) mr percolator - got a thing for you baby (wax-wel) pappys haunted house - dude (mide) june bateman - i don't wanta (clamike) the birds of paradise - bossa blue port (newman) the torques - bumpin (lemco) liz mccall - double determination (mr g) mercy men - fifth street (bee gee)
plus m'bamina - african roll (barclay) in a fleamarket this afternoon
How is that Raices LP? I??ve seen it a couple of times but never got the chance to listen to it.
And, as others have said, Volker rocks. I got Missing Link back in Germany a while back and keep coming back to it. Real solid. Got that "Houseboat" LP a while back too. Wasn??t impressed.
