We stopped to get something to eat and I had the best cobb salad of my life. The woman sitting next to us was telling her coworker about places to stay in Nicaragua. She described a place where you could sit in a hot tub on a cliff overlooking the countryside, all for less than $20 a night, contingent on you doing community service, such as building chimneys for houses, during your stay. The woman said she stayed for three months. I pretended not to listen--supressing my wanderlust--while I finished the salad. We saw Killer of Sheep and I forgot about both the salad and Nicaragua.
there is a good empanada place in Kensington Market, but the best thing about the place is their salad: lettuce, raw broccoli, cilantro, tomatoes, onions, avocados (which i give to Man because he loves them and i don't) and a delicious lemony dressing. on Saturdays only they also have amazing sourdough bread that goes perfectly with the salad.
...wait, are you saying you don't think they wash it at all?
I think DigDug may be referring to the "spinach epidemic" we had in America last year, where people were getting sick (a few died, right?) from prepackaged, washed, spinach.
Now that's ULTIMATE SPINACH.
My head feels like a buffalo My heart's a nail sticking from a board But look how pretty the sun is gone The moon shines through the cherry blossoms
Bullfrog sliced up side to side Caught in the mover Guts stuck to the cuttings Look how soft his body kicks Stomach unfolding like a newbord kid
Now tall grass gentle under my palm I'm a rowboat dragging through the water Raccoon finds a goose's eggs Eats them from the nest like a dinner plate
My head feels like a buffalo My heart's a nail sticking from a board I'll find a hammer to pound it down I'll find a knife to carve it out
i got it! and oh man - what perfect timing. it is such a great record for this Spring weather.
thanks!
yea, the bad spinach made it up here, too. just read somewhere that they traced it to a farm in San Benito, CA. how scary is that? e.coli coming up through the soil...all the washing in the world could not make the plant clean.
