I've been interested in it for the last year or so, they teach a course up at UW on how to make it yourself, or to even run your car on hemp oil or vegetable oil:http://www.hempcar.orghttp://www.greasecar.comhttp://www.biotour.comI know in Seattle and Issaquah, there are biodiesel pumps, but was also wondering of any of you make your own batch as well. Inform.

Last Thursday I Djed a benefit party here in DC for the Greaseball Challenge which is a charity biofuel car rally going from the US to Central America. Really cool stuff.
The organizer is a big John Coltrane fan so you know she's alright!

I dont make it but know an old hippie locally who I swap records for fuel with. He is into rareish Psych rock so I sometimes get 30-50l for one record. It has been a good deal and I have had my 4wd running on it for over a year.

I have another friend who runs his car on pure second hand oil from the fish and chip shops. He has a secondary tank and a heating element in it to heat the oil before flicking a switch and runnning on it. His cars exhaust smells like fried fish and chips.

Definition of Real World Moves I salute you. Me and girl are saving up for a diesel. Right now a used PT Cruiser is about all we can get but wouldn't mind one of the new Jeep Wranglers.

Very cool. The conversion to have it run that way seems fairly easy to do and maintain, and I know there's a local Mexican restaurant that regularly puts out their oil waste right out by trash. However, "biodiesel experts" claim that leaving it outside can lead to condensation, which is water that doesn't need to be in there. However, I would think that when the waste oil is converted, the little amount of water would not be much of a concern.

I'd like to get a new car, in the future at least, so I would probably go the used route.

What does your exhaust smell like from the hippie fuel? Patchouli oil and sweat?

Some of the buses on Harvard's campus run on biodiesel, but I've never noticed a smell.

I run my car on a combination of Biodiesel and normal diesel mostly depending on whether I have any records to trade for fuel. Last year I was getting about 30-40 Litres a week as I seemed to always find resonably good records my Fuel supplier was into. I have had a bit of a dry patch recently and havn't had any biodiesel for a month.
If you can find a good supply of oil its worth looking into particulary if you live in a warmer climate. Running on straight oil (prefiltered) can be difficult if the oil gets cold enough to congeal

My car when running on biodiesel does smell like someones cooking.
