Very elusive Solomon Burke finally nabbed, in the real world, as was Della with the ill version of "Who Is She and What is She To You" and the Humble Pie debut LP is a white label ... the Taste LP came from the record show today, only LP I bought ... I kept almost buying albums but putting them back due to being too expensive, too beat, too wack, or all of the above ... found LOTS of 45's though:
All kinds of soul, psych, funk ... Soul Continentals is a 2-sided organ funk BURNER with tough drums on both, Conservatives is nice TX garage pop, Candy Coated People is killer psychedelic soul, mine was a dollar but I'll need to mint up ... Action was a dollar too and is clean and rare US press of a freakbeat classic ... great day for 45's!
I love Jesse Anderson's track "Let Me Back In" on the flipperz...it's hard to say whether the Tyrone Davis version is better or not, but what a pretty tune.
Sourced some great, clean, cheap local presses of some great soul 45s (amongst some other stuff) the local pressings of the Atlantic & Stax stuff is getting harder & harder to turn up & for some reason Australian collectros go nuts for them?? No matter though because these ones aren't going anywhere in a hurry.
Jerry Lee Lewis - Slipping Around Jerry Lee Lewis - Matchbox Jerry Lee Lewis - Big Legged Woman PP Arnold - If You Think You're Groovy Solomon Burke - If You Need Me Arthur Conley - Shake Rattle & Roll King Curtis - Memphis Soul Stew Otis Redding - Hard To Handle Otis Redding - Love Man Otis Redding - I Can't Turn You Loose Otis Redding - Fa-fa-fa-fa-fa (Sad Song) Otis Redding - Try A Little Tenderness Otis & Carla - Lovey Dovey Otis & Carla - Tramp Sam & Dave - I Thank You Joe Tex - Show Me Rufus Thomas - Do The Funky Chicken
The LPs are mostly some choice 80s reissues except the Joe Tex which is the OG local press of his early Dial stuff on London, before we even had a local Atlantic label here. Impossible to get & minty.

fleamarket finds ... all doubles ...
-pierre henry & michel colombier - messe pour le temps present (philips) -chicken curry & his pop percussion orchestra - stereo discotheque (mfp) -les enfants terribles - c'est la vie (barclay) ... french psych folk with crazy lyrics ... not well known but really nice ...
i just got back from a week long road trip down south to va., tenn., and i suppose arkansas (west memphis area)--went to the stax museum. if you haven't been--it is
i wish i had taken photos of the really incredible memphis style bbq sandwich i had. tasty stuff!
anyhow, i went digging at some fleas, thrifts, junk shops, and a few antique mall places. came back with about a few boxes worth of stuff. half of it sucks the suck--the other half of what i found is really dope stuff.
just a few off the top of my head --
bama -- ghettos of the mind (minty) lp
tolbert - got to be free 12" (sealed og)
some random rap 12"s i can't recall the names of
trinity 12"
joe gibbs lp comp.
natural high 1 lp
a couple of rare moder/boogie 12" turds
some awesome/rare gospel, r&b/soul and funk 45s
even a couple of small 60s garage 45s in the bunch too.
No records, but I found a full size promo poster of Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band in an antique store. It has the Warner Brothers/Reprise logo in the corner (I think). Looks to be late 1960's-early 1970's. I wish I could find more stuff like this (although I passed up the Kenny Rogers & The First Edition promo poster).

I think I had one in my "imaginary soul LP's" thread
way back. All those singles are flamethrowers.
And I know the other Marvin Smith on Mayfield is
the money piece, but that Impressions cover is gangster
like Chigago 1934!
