You knew it was coming.viamcom sues youtube/googlei am starting to wonder if i should have nixed finance for copyright law. seems like a lot of business is happening these days around that market.the ironic thing about this, is that Viacom would cream their pants to get in good with YouTube and do some revenue sharing. It's not like they were going out of their way to put up videos and such on the internet prior to Youtube, so they must envy the market and technology (and money). Until one of them budges, looks like getting clips of 'The Daily Show' may become trickier.

Mark Cuban is on SS?
First the labels tried to sue the arse off anyone they could find infringing their copyright, but it's now looking like the majors have accepted that free distribution of their copyrighted content can work as a branding / marketing tool in the bigger game. They finally understood that they can't stop the power of the internet and now Viacom is going to learn that via a very expensive court battle.
More and more big content owners are shelving plans for DRM and pay-per-view online content in favour of free distribution models and multi-platform licenses. Viacom might win the battle but it's going to lose the war.
