Was hoping someone could shed some light on this group for me. What is the deal with these guys? Are they Christian Hip Hop? There is a lot of Jesus Christ references on the Galleries album.What's Up? Are they into bible bangin' I don't know sort of weird.Your help and cooperation will be greatly appriciated. AMIGOS.

I will have to give them some credit though, Blessings is a great song and some of the other stuff is tolerable.

Is it like sort of personal thing for some of the guys and like only a few of the dudes like go to church on Sun. and stuff.....like maybe a Black Baptist Church etc. And that is about it. And the rest of the time are just normal dudes . Who write some deep ass ryhmes. and it just spills out on very rare occasions.
Or is it like, they like have group prayer meetings at their shows. And they are so obsessed with it that they can't take a shit without mentioning the JC. And like are all about spreading the good news type shit.......I.E. Fuggin Nutz.

NOWADAYS, EVERYONE OF AVERAGE INTELLIGENCE SHOULD BE ABLE TO REALIZE THAT RELIGIONS ARE MERELY CONFORMIST CONSTRUCTS MEANT TO ENSLAVE FREE THOUGHT THROUGH THE USE OF REWARDS, PUNISHMENTS, PEER PRESSURE, ETC.
SO WHY THE BLOODY DRAT ARE PEOPLE STILL GOING TO CHURCH? THE ANSWER IS OBVIOUS -- MOST OF HUMANITY IS DUMB. I'M NOT TALKING LOCKED-YOURSELF-OUT-OF-THE-HOUSE DUMB. I'M TALKING DUMB, DUMB, DUMB.

FIRST OF ALL, CHRISTIANS HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO COMPREHENSION OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE ETHICAL. THEY KILL, STEAL AND TORTURE INNOCENT ATHEISTS IN THE NAME OF THEIR BIBLE AND THEN PRAY FOR FORGIVENESS FROM THEIR STUPID LITTLE PRIESTS. SECONDLY, A MAN WHO IS WILLING TO KILL HIS OWN FAMILY JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE TOLD HIM TO IS A COWARD. A BRAVE MAN WOULD BE WILLING TO FIGHT TO THE END FOR WHAT HE HOLDS DEAR.
LET'S LOOK AT THE MUSLIM RELIGION. THEY BELIEVE THAT MUSIC, DANCE, NAKED WOMEN AND OTHER SUCH THINGS ARE "INDECENT". THEY THINK THAT SOME CREATURE CALLED "ALLAH" WILL BRING THEM PEACE, YADDA, YADDA, YADDA. THEY THINK THAT IF THEY BOW EVERY DAY, THEY WILL SOMEHOW BE TRANSPORTED TO A PLACE CALLED "HEAVEN", WHERE EVERYONE LOOKS CONSPICUOUSLY HUMAN. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I MASTURBATE ALL THE TIME. IT'S NOT GOING TO AFFECT ME IN ANY WAY, ASIDE FROM MAKING ME NEED TO TAKE BATHS MORE OFTEN. AND LISTENING TO O FORTUNA WILL NOT MAKE MY HEAD EXPLODE. THEY ARE USUALLY BLACK/HISPANIC IMMIGRANTS WHO DO NOT HAVE THE BRAINS OR THE BALLS TO UNDERSTAND SCIENCE AND THUS RESORT TO READING RETARDED STORIES ABOUT SAVIORS AND SAINTS. NEVER MIND, I DON'T THINK RELIGIOUS PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THE WORD MEANS.

I RECEIVED A GREAT NUMBER OF THREATS AND CRITICISMS (MOST OF WHICH MADE ME LAUGH, BUT SOME OF WHICH WERE AN ACTUAL DANGER). OTHER ATHEISTS, ODDLY, JUST SAT THEIR AND KEPT TO THEMSELVES. THIS BOTHERED ME, BECAUSE THE ONLY WAY US RATIONAL THINKERS WILL BE ABLE TO RESTORE REASON TO THIS OVERLY CHRISTIAN SOCIETY IS BY GETTING OURSELVES HEARD. THAT MEANS TAKING THE RISK OF GETTING INTO FIGHTS, GETTING FIRED, GETTING KICKED OUT OF SCHOOL, ETC.
THAT'S WHAT I HAVE TO SAY FOR TONIGHT. NOW I'M GOING TO SLEEP, AND I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT I DO NOT HAVE TO PRAY TO A NONEXISTENT DEITY TO WAKE ME UP. MY BODY'S METABOLIC FUNCTIONS WILL DO THAT JUST FINE.

Ras' on E=MC5 was even hotter. One of the best Ras (read: West Coast) verses evar.
Perhaps the only record I've kept for two verses and a couple of cool beats.
I can't even listen to LMNO these days, but his old stuff was surprisingly good, the Blak Forest stuff, his early singles, that EP from 93... As far as the rest of the Visionaries go, I still think 2Mex is pretty good, if a bit over the top at times. And DJ Rhettmatic is obviously good.
Mmmmm, I used to do shows with Pigeon John back when I was playing with the Justice Leeg in LA. Justice Leeg are/were a Baha'i group, but weren't overt about it. They just did very positive music and talked about everyday life, not any gangster-bling-bling type of steez. And that's how I'd describe Pigeon John - if he is Christian, he's not very in your face about it on his records.

I like that CD it brings back a lot of memories. They got some dope beats on some of the earlier stuff, havent kept up with them in quite a few years though. I think Jizzm, one of my favorite modern time backpacker producers has worked them on a lot of stuff.
I think there are alot of dudes on the scene that have made a way for themselves and continued their speak. Namely Ohmega Watts, Lightheaded and the Procussions. All these guys have worked together and brought it up on their own level. I appreciate what they do and dig the beats as well. Plus gotta have love for people reppin' Portland. Ohmega Watts is a really really cool cat.
