And when I wanna nerd it up, I throw in my usb key and run linux off it. People still find it crazy when I run a comp off something the size of a pinkie.
Which distribution?
I've been poking around with Ubuntu. But as for running off the usb key, I use Slax.
recently made the switch myself, as did my wife. big fan of the mac. can't say it enough. raised on PC but now happy to be on a mac.
yay!
i was raised on Windows, and last spring made the switch to mac due to the recommendation of most all of my friends. Mac's are extremely user-friendly and you should have no problem with the transition. I can't recommend making the switch highly enough. Not a damn thing that I miss about Windows.

I've been on DOS/Windows for almost 20 years and I never had any problems. I think the possibilities for inexperienced user problems are higher with a windows pc though. If you've used windows before and you had no problems: "never change a running system!". Go and get a dualcore ibm r60 thinkpad for 1.200$ or the smaller, lighter and sexier X60. Those machines got more power than the macbooks and are built to last.
