here's a short 23 minute mix i did last night of my finds for the week. all stuff that i found in my parent's attic since i came home to housesit for the summer. one take, live from my mixer with no real fancy shit, only 4 hours after i found the records(!)
all kinds of stuff...afrobeat, modern soul and regular soul, well-known rhodes jams, free jazz and non-free jazz, shoegazy factory records test presses, Mingus Plays Piano, etc. Nothing all that rare, just some good music.
plaese to post your mixes here that are available for download. heres mine, a few of you have already heard it but its finally online so i thought i would share.
That would be Los Aristocratas de Chicago. It's the purple/blue-ish record towards the middle right underneath cookie monster. You can make out the word "...cago".
I did a mix on a CD last night for the first time ever - is it possible to post it up here? Can someone please tell me how to do it?
Thanks.
Yeah, me too. Actually, if anyone has some good [cheap] webhosting links I'd appreciate it.

Actually I was thinking more about somewhere that would last longer than a week - i.e. somewhere I could put the mix and refer people to it when they wanted to know what I sound like as a DJ. I'm not really sure how much space BW I need - mix is about an hour, it's probably not going to be downloaded that many times... any idea how much I should be paying?
I know, I know, this is getting real tired...boy who cried wolf and all... How about now? last night
Oh shit. It just finished downloading. And while I'm only 8 minutes in, I feel drugged (noGHB) already. Do you have a tracklist?

I don't know what it is with the women of soulstrut re-introducing me to Roberta Flack. I have this record, but I forgot this song (the same was true with whitelily's inclusion of "Business As Usual" on her mix).
I feel ignorant. Roberta mentions Pharaoh on this cut:
Let Pharaoh go. You don't need him. ... Pharaoh doesn't want you but he needs you.... Without you there is no Pharaoh, so all you have to do to let him go is let him go.
Similarly, and around the same time, Amiri Baraka recorded "Come Back Pharaoh". What, specifically, do these refer to? Anyone? Edification first.

(This mix is fucker nice, by the way.)
Thank You for the kind words. If it's going to be nice - it best be fucker nice. I am not being sarcastic when I say this.
I don't know the Bible enough to really say. I just did a secular interpretation (and given the rest of her lyrics) as not to follow gods/rulers and to be about the people as opposed to a leader.

What I got from that was a 1kb (tiny) .cda (compact disc audio) file that doesn't play. Probably because it's empty?
Try converting it from CD to mp3 on your computer and then uploading the mp3 to yousendit.

Miss Bassie's mix will cure male pattern baldness!
Here's a photo of me to prove it:
